00:44The boy moms of social media innocently state that their extra special love for

00:48their sons is wholesome and magical, something that women without sons can't understand.

00:52But a more cynical take on boy moms,

00:55based on the opinions of those who don't relate to their content,

00:58is that they seem to favor their male children over their female children.

01:34For example, take this now-deleted TikTok made by proud boy mom creator Avery Woods.

01:45I obviously am obsessed with Stevie Lee.

01:47She is just the greatest little girl in the world.

01:50But my whole life, I always wanted to be a boy mom.

01:52Another viral TikTok that has since been deleted was recirculated by a user

01:57who couldn't believe what this particular boy mom was confessing.

02:10Though some suspect that the

02:11born-to-be-your-lover-forced-to-be-your-mother post must have been a joke,

02:15there are countless examples of women posting similar sentiments.

02:18Moms who dread the day they have to share their sons with another female,

02:22or moms who say that their sons love them more than any man could.

02:25So what's wrong with that?

02:26Well, on the surface, these remarks seem harmless.

02:29But people are confronting boy moms for romanticizing their relationships with their sons

02:34and creating an inappropriate emotional attachment.

02:37Not only is this behavior uncomfortable to watch,

02:39it can ultimately harm the child's own development.

02:43There's moms that love their sons, but then there's moms that are, like, in love with their sons.

03:40And then I met my girls, and I was like, oh, no, they're just children.

03:48Listen, nobody's saying that a mom can't show her love for her kids on social media.

03:52But people are saying that feeling more love or connection to her child

03:56solely because of his gender is a pretty strange thing to publicize.
