00:07known for that dynasty that he crafted up with the New England Patriots,

00:11is set to head over to Chapel Hill.

00:14I did not believe this was actually going to come to fruition, Rich.

00:18I thought it was a bit of a smoke show.

00:20I thought maybe it was to try and garner a bit of a buzz

00:23so he could put himself back in the media conversation

00:26and then sort of catapult back into the NFL for next year.

00:29It is what it is.

00:31What's the expectations for Bill coming in at year one?

00:34Certainly going to get a couple of young players interested

00:37in that pro way of learning.

00:39Yeah, you and I were thinking the same way.

00:42I thought it was a smokescreen.

00:44I thought it was a way to sort of gin up his ass in the NFL.

00:47Look, I'm getting attention from North Carolina.

00:51A legend, first-ballot Hall of Famer,

00:55one of the great coaches at the NFL level of all time.

00:58I just don't see the fit.

01:00Now, listen, if it was ten years ago, it would look even worse

01:04because the college game was much further away from the pro game

01:08a decade ago, two decades ago.

01:10It's getting closer to an NFL style of game with NIL,

01:15with revenue sharing, transfer portal.

01:18It's a lot more similar to the NFL, but at this stage of his life,

01:23with all that he's achieved, with the personality that he has,

01:27does he really want to recruit and deal with 18- and 19-year-old kids?

01:32I mean, this is a very different world than the NFL.

01:35Even though it's trending towards pro football, this is different.

01:41These are young kids.

01:42These are kids who you might develop,

01:44and they transfer out at the end of their first year.

01:48Or you get that high-profile freshman.

01:51He doesn't feel like he's getting enough playing time,

01:53so he's going to seek out greener pastures elsewhere.

01:57He's a genius.

01:58He's a defensive genius, and I want your take on this.

02:01I just don't see the fit at the college level.

02:04I'll put the under over in terms of how many years he's in Chapel Hill

02:08at two and a half and might hit the under on this one.

02:12Yeah, we're seeing it the same, Rich, because I just feel like there's

02:16so much volatility with the portal, NIL, and for Bill Belichick,

02:21he's been rewarded for years of performing in the highest regard.

02:27At the college ranks, you work with players for two, three, four seasons,

02:31and then they're moving on, and then you're suddenly starting to build again

02:35where, as we saw at the Patriots, there's the Bill Belichick of doing things.

02:40You're buying into that culture for, I guess, rewards at the back end of that.

02:45I've got question marks galore.

02:47I think it's a totally different animal that Bill is working with,

02:51but obviously a student of the game and has one of the highest IQs

02:55that we've ever seen there with a clipboard in hand.
