00:00Merry Christmas, everybody!
00:05Christmas is one of my favourite times of the year,
00:08but for so many people, it's simply not affordable.
00:11So I've teamed with Skipton and Cash for Kids
00:13to talk about donating your boxed new toys.
00:17I've got the tips, the toys, and hopefully a hot chocolate.
00:22Ooh!
00:24I think it's important to donate your unwanted toys
00:27because there's kids out there that are not going to get anything.
00:31Even though it might seem insignificant to me to donate that toy,
00:34that could make their lives or their Christmas a lot better,
00:37and I think it's absolutely worth it.
00:39These are my top tips for donating your toys this year.
00:43Tip one, go through your homes and create three piles,
00:46keep, donate and sell.
00:48Tip two, make it fun, set a timer,
00:50how many toys can you find that are unwanted in one minute?
00:53Tip three, make sure that you take your new unwanted toys
00:57down to your local Skipton Building Society
00:59or your nearest drop-off point.
01:04Donate your boxed new toys now!
01:08So we've already helped over 150,000 children this year,
01:12but in total there's 300,000 children that need our support.
01:15So that means in just one week's time,
01:18So that means in just one week's time,
01:20we have 150,000 children that still need our help.
01:23And that's why Mission Christmas is so vitally important right now.
01:27Hi Peter, can you tell me why Skipton are getting involved in this initiative?
01:30Here at Skipton Building Society it's so important to us and our members
01:34to help support our communities, where our branches are,
01:36and we do that by helping with gifts for disadvantaged children.
01:4080% of households have at least one toy unwanted in their homes.
01:44So please, I'm urging you, find that one toy,
01:47take it to your local Skipton branch and donate it today.
01:50Happy Christmas!
