00:00Sarawak Premier Abang Johari Oping said a solution has been reached over the dispute
00:07between Sarawak and Petronas over the rights to oil and gas resources in and around the
00:12state, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim set to announce it soon.
00:17Abang Johari said the issue was merely a legal matter, with Petronas relying on the Petroleum
00:23Development Act 1974 and Sarawak on the Oil and Mining Ordinance 1958.
00:29He said it had been decided that the rights of both parties under the PDA and OMO can
00:35co-exist.
00:37Over the past year, Sarawak has pressed hard for Petronas to ink a deal that would make
00:41petroleum Sarawak Berhad the sole gas aggregator in the state.
00:46Abang Johari also said some had exaggerated claims, suggesting Petronas could lose up
00:51to RM100 billion with Petros entering the fray for rights to the ONG resources in and
00:57around the state.
00:59He said while there may be a slight reduction to Petronas' profits due to the gas distribution
01:04arrangement, he believed that this could be resolved.
01:08He also said Petros would continue collaborating with Petronas, emphasizing that their partnership
01:13was crucial as collectively they dominate a significant portion of Sarawak's gas reserves.
