00:00We can't tell you the man's name or even where the crimes took place because of a strict
00:07suppression order imposed by the court. But we can tell you he pleaded guilty to multiple
00:12domestic violence offences against his wife, including coercive control.
00:16The court heard he locked the woman inside the house, assaulted her and repeatedly threatened
00:21to kill her. The man was the first to be arrested and charged less than a month after new coercive
00:26control laws came into effect in New South Wales earlier this year.
00:30Today he was sentenced to an 18-month community corrections order, which means he won't spend
00:35any time in custody unless he breaches his conditions. He will be fitted with an electronic
00:40monitoring device from today.
