00:00Actually, as far as I know, we all had a threat that you have to do this show, so we didn't
00:13have much of a choice.
00:14Mukul Abhyankar.
00:15Yes, Bhayankar was the threat.
00:16Sir, the story.
00:17When I heard the story for the first time, with Mukul sir, Bani jay, of course, in his
00:29office, so the story was the main point where, when I heard it for the first time, I had no
00:36doubts that it was necessary to be a part of this show because such a crime drama was
00:44written.
00:45After a long time, I think, after a long time, I saw something like this, I mean, even on
00:51paper, and when I heard what kind of characters are there, plus I knew Javed sir was involved
00:58and Neeraj sir was also signed on, so that, of course, was an incentive to be a part of
01:05it because I have always wanted to work with Neeraj sir as well, with Javed sir, this is
01:09my second show, so, but the way it's written, I think that was the main thing, the complexity
01:16of the story and the way it comes together in the end, that for me was a winner, so that's
01:24how I connected with this story.
01:26I think everyone's answer would be that this story was so good and everyone saw the story
01:31and did this show.
01:32Everyone should repeat.
01:33No, no, actually, I would like to say that I saw the story and did it, but more than
01:38that, I wanted to work with Javed sir and Neeraj sir, so for me, the biggest selling
01:42point was that because we have seen him since childhood and I have idolized him and, you
01:47know, seen him be such an iconic person, so I think it was an honour for me to be a part
01:53of this and the biggest reason for me was this, to be a part of this show.
02:02For me, it was an immediate yes, honestly, I didn't have an option, no, no, apart from
02:11jokes, I read the story, I think I was the first one to read the script and Mukul sir
02:17narrated this story to me at least 6-7 months ago, but I didn't have anything to read,
02:23and in that, I was sold, I knew I had to do this because nobody has ever seen me in this
02:28life.
02:29You were a big guy then, you were sold.
02:31So, yeah, and then I got paid.
02:39I will talk about myself because this character of Bosco Salvador is like a Christian Catholic
02:46from Bandra, which is a suburb of Mumbai and because I was born and raised in this suburb,
02:54so I was very aware of the people living there, especially their accents, their style, so
03:04that helped me a lot in this particular role and for the first time in a film or series,
03:10I am playing this character for the first time in my 40-year career, so it was very
03:16exciting for me and in fact, when Mukul himself approached me and said that this is the one,
03:24and I had seen this character from Bandra somewhere, so for me, this was a preparation
03:30and I had already done the homework in a way, this is my 50-year-old homework, which helped
03:36me a lot in this character and the lines were also very well written, which were written
03:42by Abbas Hussain and I improvised a little bit.
03:46Punchlines are very funny.
03:48Yeah, so I kept that a little because when I said that character, my homework came in
03:52handy here and it is very different, the character of Bosco Salvador is very different from
03:58Javed Jafri, so the preparation was not that much because I had done the homework, so I
04:02didn't have to do much.
04:04But yes, I did a little of his walk, walk style, so that was my take.
04:10When I was told that she is a girl from Mumbai, she is Catholic, so it was very new for me
04:18because I am from Delhi and I had no idea about this dialect and pronunciation, so I
04:24think for me, it was very important to talk to somebody who belonged here, so I had a
04:30very good friend with whom I talked.
04:32There are only a couple of lines in which I had to bring that accent, the rest I talked
04:36like a regular, no particular accent and other than that, I think the character of a lawyer,
04:42I have a very good friend who is a lawyer in London, he gave me a lot of lowdowns, I
04:46discussed with him that is it too much because what we see in cinema, the way of a lawyer
04:54is very exaggerated, which is not there in real life, so I actually did end up going
05:02to a court to see, as luck would have it, I did not have to go now, this was for another
05:10project that I was preparing for, so I went to the court for that, so I remember how the
05:16judges and lawyers in real life talk, how they present, it is not that dramatic, so I
05:22think that helped, so that is how I prepared.
05:26Mostly, I am playing a cop, so the way he walks, the way he talks, the dialect, I was
05:36a little familiar with that because I had done a show before where I had a U.P. dialect,
05:42but overall I think the script, the dialogues of Hussain and Abbas and the way Mukul sir
05:48has written it, I think everything was, we are lucky to have somebody who has written
05:52something so intricately that everything was there, all we had to do and I have a habit
05:58of reading the script at least like 2-3 times because I think overall the more you read
06:03it, the more the script reveals itself to you, so I think there are so many hidden things
06:10that eventually you can add on to your character and feeding off one another, like even Pulkit's
06:18character or Bhaskar sir and Gayatri's for that matter, I think that energy when it came
06:25together, I feel like people were so prepared and however they performed, that was very
06:30important and then it's play, then it's fun, so if you look at it that way, it was
06:35a lot of fun, I was just having fun with it, it was a beautiful world created, I have
06:40never played a character like this before, so it was new for me, exciting and working
06:47with sir, I had a lot of fun.
06:51Yeah, we had some good scenes together.
06:55Actually, do you want a character?
06:57No, preparation.
06:59Preparation and also challenges you said right, so my answer is
07:02No, she actually went in the underworld world as a underworld like a reporter kind of thing
07:09yet and she nearly died, you know.
07:12Somehow managed to come.
07:14Yeah, managed.
07:15No, but I think a lot of things were challenging because this is my first film, so I
07:21Yeah, so a lot of things were challenging, just the unknowing, not knowing anything was
07:27also like a challenge, okay, how do I, what do I do, where do I sit?
07:31This must be damn exciting for you.
07:33Yeah, it was and also scary, you know, in a way.
07:37But Kanya, you're so natural, I saw the first episode, like the beginning, you're so
07:41natural on screen, it was a treat to watch you.
07:44And that first, so maybe one of the first scenes, I was like, oh my god, this is so
07:48It was a treat to watch you.
07:49And that first, so maybe one of the first scenes, I was like, oh my god, this is so
07:50And that first, so maybe one of the first scenes, I was like, oh my god, this is so
07:51maybe when you watch, you'll see that first scene you're talking about, it's outdoor
07:54and just like my first intro scene when you see it, we were shooting it out in like sun
07:59and I don't know in May, I guess, somewhere around that time.
08:03And I was like, I couldn't think about anything.
08:06But I think it is a fact that I think we, I agree to what Javed sir said that we got
08:10really less time to prep, but because this was like the first project of mine, I was
08:15like, okay, no, I don't care who works or not.
08:18I'm just going to sit and like, you know, like really go through it really make my point.
08:22So I think a lot of things were difficult.
08:24But I think when you have people around you, like I remember and I have to say this, Gayatri,
08:29when we first met for the script reading, I met everybody.
08:33I was not I didn't know anybody like I was the cast was not this close to me.
08:37I met everybody and I saw Javed sir in the lift.
08:42And we pressed the same like we were going to the same floor.
08:45And he said, Oh, and I said, Yeah, I'm playing Asmi because he probably has read the script.
08:49Oh, you're Asmi.
08:51And then, you know, like just the warmth of everybody.
08:53And then after we finished the script reading, I was just walking outside.
08:57He said, Hey, where are you going?
08:58I'll just drop you.
08:59You know, like little things like that, you know, helped me.
09:02And I felt comfortable enough to just just be myself.
09:07And to, like you said, just to be free and not think about anything.
09:11So there were a lot of challenges.
09:12We were shooting too many scenes in one day.
09:16And for me, who's not shot like one scene.
09:25So for me, it was really challenging.
09:27But then I think, like I said, there's good actors, good energy, everything kind of worked out well for me.
09:35And I'm really happy.
09:36So please watch the show and let me know what you think.
09:38I'm so excited for you.
09:40I know, really.
09:41I didn't know it was about you.
09:42That's amazing.
09:43Because I had a very intense scene.
09:47I can't wait to watch the movie.
09:50And we were also doing this interview.
09:52I mean, it was kind of, I'm asking you questions and you're giving me.
09:56It was nice.
09:57But yeah, I think I got, in my very first project, I got opportunity to work with all of you.
10:02I know us.
10:04That's amazing.
10:05It was really nice.
10:06I was really happy when I saw everybody sitting there, you know, doing the first reading.
10:10I was like, oh wow, nice.
10:12How lovely, man.
