Cash rate on hold in December

00:04rate on hold at 4.35%. Now that was a widely expected move out of the 40 economists and

00:11experts surveyed by Finder, all 40 had expected no change in the cash rate in December. That marks

00:17more than a year of the cash rate being on hold at 4.35%. So now the question turns to when will

00:23interest rates start dropping? About half of the experts surveyed by Finder expect that that will

00:28happen in May 2025, although some economists are holding out hope and are still tipping a rate cut

00:35in February.
