00:00We know from time to time, we often hear about child abuse cases,
00:08including in TASKAR, which involves TASKAR, Sekolah Mahat Tafis and currently in GISB H.
00:17And it was also reported by JKM, the new ministerial office,
00:23that as of August 2024, there are 2,240 child abuse cases,
00:30which means an average of 9 child abuse cases per day.
00:36In Australia, the ministerial office has a department or social service
00:43that obliges every employee involved and also TASKAR or Sekolah,
00:50to get a release card from Working with Vulnerable People, WWVP.
01:02And are we also taking similar steps,
01:07such as amending the Child Abuse Protection Act
01:13to oblige those who work in child abuse prevention,
01:18such as TASKAR, to get the same release from JKM?
01:22And are there other steps, more effective solutions,
01:26so that child abuse cases in TASKAR or sexual abuse cases
01:32can be reduced in TASKAR in our country?
01:36Thank you, Mr. Speaker.
01:38Mr. Prime Minister.
01:39Thank you, Honourable Vice-Premier, for the additional questions.
01:46As Malaysians, we sometimes feel angry
01:52when we hear about child abuse cases.
01:58And indeed, we at the ministry admit that there are still
02:02child abuse and child abuse cases in TASKAR.
02:08But for your information, most of these cases
02:12are not registered in TASKAR,
02:14and are not even known to the ministry.
02:20Because if they register with the ministry,
02:24or if TASKAR is not registered in the JKM,
02:29we have issued a reminder notice
02:34so that they do not operate until the registration process is completed.
02:39And I would also like to inform you that child abuse cases
02:43are only statistics for honourable information.
02:47Child abuse cases in TASKAR versus child abuse cases in family care.
02:51As of August 2024, there were 4,424 child abuse cases reported.
03:00However, of those, only three cases were reported in TASKAR.
03:08The other cases were reported by people who were well-known.
03:13Most of them were well-known by the children themselves.
03:18That is why we have launched a children's advocacy program
03:24in an effort to give awareness to the general public,
03:29especially the children themselves,
03:32about how and what they can do
03:35in an effort to reduce or immediately stop child abuse.
03:42However, we accept and welcome the proposal
03:52to reduce child abuse, especially in TASKAR.
