00:00Hello, my name is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post and
00:05here are your headlines for this morning. A £15bn merger between Vodafone and 3UK has
00:14been approved by the Competition and Markets Authority. The deal can go ahead if both companies
00:22agree to invest billions to roll out a combined 5G network across the UK. The companies have
00:29also been told to offer shorter term customer protections, which would require the merged
00:34company to cap certain mobile tariffs for three years. Stuart McIntosh of the CMA said
00:42the deal is likely to boost competition in the UK mobile sector and should be allowed
00:46to proceed, but only if Vodafone and 3 agree to implement the proposed measures. My name
00:53is Greg Wright. I'm the Deputy Business Editor of the Yorkshire Post.
