NATO's Rutte warns of Russian support for North Korean nuclear program

The NATO chief highlighted Moscow's aid to Pyongyang's nuclear efforts is posing a threat to global security.

00:00NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said we should not be naive about how Russia may be

00:06supporting nuclear programs in North Korea.

00:08The alleged Russian support of Pyongyang's nuclear program, as well as the involvement

00:12of North Korean troops in Russia's invasion of Ukraine, demands broader collaboration

00:17between NATO and countries outside of the alliance.

00:20There is every reason to make that statement that nuclear technology and missile technology

00:26is flowing into North Korea and therefore is a risk now that North Korea will use it

00:32not only to be a threat to us here but also to the U.S. mainland and of course to the

00:37region including the Republic of Korea, South Korea and Japan.

00:43Amid fears that Donald Trump might withdraw key U.S. aid to Ukraine when he enters office,

00:49Rutte recently met with the U.S. President-elect in Florida.

00:53He said that he'd underlined that China, North Korea and Iran were weighing in on Russia's

00:58side, putting the United States and the Asia-Pacific region at risk.

01:03When asked about Russia's own nuclear threat, Rutte accused the Kremlin of sabre rattling.
