00:00Charlie, looking at Wolves and star man Mateus Cunha, he's started this Premier League season
00:07fantastically well, an amazing run of games and getting him going and obviously some fantastic
00:13performances as well for the side. Gary O'Neill took a bit of credit for the way he's improved
00:21Cunha and across social media there's a lot of Wolves fans mentioning O'Neill's impact
00:27on him and when you look at it, O'Neill has had a fantastic impact, he's moved him into
00:32that 10 role, that position of false 9, 10 where he has more space on the ball to turn
00:38and assist and shoot from range as well which he's been doing fantastically well. So just
00:43how important is Cunha, I know there's obviously been echoes of a new contract, how important
00:48would that be for Wolves as well to make sure he is their player, especially come January
00:54but then 100% they need to make sure they keep him across that summer campaign window.
01:00He's absolutely vital and not just for the vast goals and assists he's contributing at
01:04a time when Wolves can't seem to score any goals whatsoever, especially at the start
01:09of the season. He is the man who steps up every week it seems and even when Wolves are
01:14losing games he is often the most impressive old goal player on the field. He was drifting
01:20wide a bit at the start of his Wolves career or playing a little bit further forward in
01:23the striker role and you're right Gary O'Neill has made such an impact bringing him a little
01:27bit deeper into that 10 role or the false 9 depending on the formation. It doesn't seem
01:31to matter if it's a back 3 or a back 4 or back 5, Cunha just occupies that space just
01:36behind the striker, picks up the ball, always has such great awareness of what's going on
01:40around him even when there's players pressing he can get away from them, plays one twos,
01:45takes a flick around a player. He's got so much skill, so much competence on the ball
01:49and his finishing ability as well as we've seen has been so, so impressive. The dribbling
01:54as well we saw away at Nottingham Forest last season, that goal coming from his own half
01:58running down all the way down the left and then somehow getting in at the near post and
02:02then his performance away at Fulham was just sensational, two goals and an assist in that
02:07match and a 4-1 victory before that game. Wolves had had their first win against Southampton
02:13before that, hadn't had any wins at all so it was a huge lift and so, so important was
02:17Cunha's impact on that game directly. But just his overall play, the way he makes his
02:22teammates feel a bit more confident, you need that kind of star player who can change games
02:27on his own at times as well. If the team isn't quite functioning as it should, if they're
02:31not quite linking up as they should, someone like Cunha can step up and make a difference
02:35so he's been so, so important for Wolves.
02:38And just how important is it that he is kept by Wolves in the windows? I'm sure he'll be
02:44attracting some attention from some bigger sides now he's finally getting applauded for
02:47his performances.
02:48He absolutely will and there have been huge clubs linked across the Premier League and
02:53talks for new contracts are very important. They need to get increased terms for Cunha
02:57to keep him at the club for many years to come.
