00:32From being a product of the National Grassroots Competition,
00:36Diaz-Narano is now guiding the next generation of weightlifters.
00:41Through her established Weightlifting Academy,
00:45her husband and coach, Julius Naranjo, is happy.
00:50More than a day, we ask ourselves,
00:53why are we doing this for the kids,
00:56so that they can see their potential in weightlifting.
01:01The 33-year-old from Buanggena, Leicester, also looked back
01:05at the first time she competed in Batang Pinoy,
01:08which was also held in Puerto Princesa, Palawan.
01:11When I was here, I was the only one in my category,
01:17but now, there are a lot of athletes in my category.
01:20So, even though there are a lot of athletes now,
01:23I'm hoping that there will be more athletes
01:26so that they can see that the competition here is good.
01:31Diaz-Narano is just one of the many examples
01:35that grassroots competitions like Batang Pinoy have gone through
01:39to find the next Filipino Olympic champion.
