00:37At the age of 19 years old, Angelica Abatayo was introduced to the world of Lone Wolves.

00:42A sport that requires precision, patience, and grace.

00:56Lone Wolves is a precision sport where players roll a heavy ball towards a target called a jack.

01:05It requires discontent and control.

01:08In the Philippines, even though it is not yet recognized by other sports,

01:12it is slowly being recognized as a competitive and recreational sport

01:17that gives opportunities to Filipino athletes to improve their skills in hunting wild boars.

01:24One, Angelica Abatayo, a member of the Junior Philippine Lone Wolves,

01:29continues to make a name for herself in this field.

01:32At a young age of 19, she won various awards,

01:36including an impressive silver medal finish in the prestigious 2024 World Junior Lady Singles in Hong Kong.

01:44But how did she start her journey in Lone Wolves?

01:49I started when I was 16 years old.

01:52Since the pandemic, my aunt introduced me to Lone Wolves.

01:57She has been a national athlete for 20 years.

02:00During the pandemic, we couldn't do anything.

02:05So my aunt introduced us to bowling.

02:08We played every day because we liked bowling.

02:13I became very interested in Lone Wolves

02:18since my aunt introduced Lone Wolves to me.

02:21That was the first sport that I joined.

02:26I became very interested in it.

02:30According to the Philippine National Lone Wolves Multinationalist, Ayni Nayet,

02:34Angelica is naturally good at playing Lone Wolves.

02:38It's her first time playing Lone Wolves.

02:42She's so natural.

02:43Her delivery and her passion for Lone Wolves is good.

02:52She's very unique.

02:57We actually concentrated on her.

03:00Angelica returned to her first international tournament in Malaysia.

03:05She experienced a lot of anxiety and frustration.

03:08But instead of feeling down,

03:10she used her emotions as an inspiration to work harder,

03:19What happened in Malaysia was so sad.

03:22We were about to cry because we didn't achieve anything in Malaysia.

03:31I felt like I was going to give up.

03:33It was so sad because I didn't win a single game in Malaysia.

03:40I was so nervous.

03:44It was our first time, so we were very nervous.

03:49Our emotions were mixed up.

03:52I told myself that I will do better in the next tournament.

03:58I told myself that I will never give up.

04:11I was always training.

04:14Even though it wasn't an easy start for Angelica,

04:18her determination and hard work paid off.

04:22In my second year, I participated in the Asian Lone Bulls in Thailand.

04:29That was in March last year.

04:31Imagine, I won a gold medal.

04:34When I was young, in my junior year,

04:41I participated in the Asian Lone Bulls Championship.

04:45I started bronze.

04:47Then I went to silver.

04:49I never had gold in my juniors during my time.

04:53With Angelica, straight away, right on the top, she became a champion.

04:58That was last year, March, in the Asian Championship in Thailand.

05:02After that, I brought Angelica to Singapore.

05:06Last year again, in July.

05:09We played the ladies' senior pairs in 2004, last year in July.

05:16We won.

05:18Angelica and I became champions.

05:21That's another international medal for Angelica.

05:25I told myself, you're very, very natural.

05:29In this sport, you're so natural.

05:31She represented Hong Kong in the World Indoor Championship in December.

05:38That was like 20 countries in bulk.

05:42Amazing, amazing result.

05:45She played in the finals.

05:46She was a finalist.

05:47She won a silver medal.

05:49I made her nervous in the finals, but my God, even the silver itself,

05:53we are so proud of her.

05:55Imagine that.

05:56During my days again, sorry, I also participated in the World Juniors,

06:00but I was only bronze.

06:02I never won a silver.

06:04But Angelica, she was really on top.

06:07Super natural.

06:08She was very good.

06:11Angelica admitted that life outside the sport was not easy.

06:59I have a lot of problems that I face.

07:06Loan balls are the only thing that I have a problem with.

07:17I don't think that tomorrow I will just play

07:20to get rid of all their problems.

07:23Despite all the trials,

07:25in her loan balls, she found true peace.

07:31A game that gives joy.

07:33And a goal that gives a reason

07:35to continue fighting and hoping for a better tomorrow.

07:56With Angelica, she survived so many things,

08:07Deep down, that's why she shows everything in her loan balls.

08:15her emotions, her problems.

09:07that you want to reach that one day

09:09and to meet different friends around the world.

09:15it's not always the fastest or the strongest

09:17that wins.

09:19It's the heart that doesn't give up.

09:22I also want to join the national team.

09:25Then, I want to play this year

09:30in the Asian Championship.

09:32And hopefully, I can join the World Indoor again

09:35in December, I think.

09:41if you don't have much to do at home,
