Domestic flights into Sydney Airport delayed due to storms

A major weather system across eastern Australia is causing chaos for people travelling. There are major delays and cancellations of flights at Sydney Airport which has been impacted by heavy fog.

00:00It's absolutely not a good day to be travelling. You just look outside, the cloud cover, the

00:06fog has caused significant problems for flights coming in and out of Sydney this morning.

00:11And it appears the knock-on effect is really only getting worse. So we're hoping, you know,

00:15the cloud cover would have lifted by now, but you just look outside and it is still

00:19very thick. So the vast majority of domestic flights coming into Sydney airport have either

00:24been delayed or many cancelled this morning. We've also seen international flights significantly

00:30impacted, some being diverted as a result of the cloud cover and the storm activity.

00:35So people can be expecting several hour-long delays. One of our colleagues was actually

00:40sitting on the tarmac at Melbourne airport for a few hours and was told that, you know,

00:45they weren't going to be taking off any time soon. He sent us some videos of the boards

00:49and they are just full of delays and cancellations. We've heard from Air Services Australia who

00:55say they're hoping to get flight schedules back on track as soon as possible, but looking

01:01outside it looks like that might be quite a long day.
