00:00Former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin successfully had his sedition trial transferred to the Kuala Lumpur High Court.
00:09The Kota Bharu High Court allowed Muhyiddin's application on Wednesday.
00:13Muhyiddin's lawyer, Amir Hamza Arshad, explained that the application was based on several factors,
00:20including the complexity of legal issues and exceptional challenges expected to arise
00:25concerning the constitutional validity of certain provisions in the Sedition Act.
00:30He said the case had garnered media attention and is of public interest,
00:35and this warrants it being heard in the High Court.
00:38Earlier this month, Muhyiddin's legal team had requested that the trial be transferred
00:43from the Gwamusang Sessions Court to the Kota Bharu High Court.
00:47Muhyiddin pleaded not guilty to charges of making seditious statements
00:51during the Nengeri by-election campaigning period at Dewan Semai Bakhti Felda Perasu on August 14.
00:59The remarks involved claims that he was not invited by the young Dipertuan Agong
