00:00They said I'd never make it, they said Big Brother would get me, but here I am, in the
00:22Big Brother house, now, it's time to meet my new housemates, I can't remember when I've
00:29ever had so much fun, can't see the water in Sydney, can't see the food in Japan, and you
00:39can't be the air with Los Angeles, but it means people think they can, now I've never had
00:44so much fun, now I've never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much
00:50fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much fun,
00:52I can't remember when I've never had so much, I can't remember when I've never had so much,
00:58I can't remember when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had
01:00so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've
01:04never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember
01:05when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember
01:06when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember when I've never had so much fun, I can't remember
01:07what you're about to witness, could only happen in Queensland, on the surface, everything appears
01:12normal, but look a little closer, they still experiment on people in these parts, while the rest of
01:19the rest of the country watches. So if you've got the stomach to get to the bottom of it,
01:24buckle up. Life is not a rehearsal, especially where we're going.
01:29Folks, in order to get into Big Brother, I need Big Brother power. Shane, hook me up.
01:36The mission, crash the lens-infested fortress that is the Big Brother house, and catch all
01:42the action on my custom-made multi-directional stalker cam with zoom and playback facility.
01:49This is not part of the game plan.
02:02Queensland. Beautiful one minute, blurry the next.
02:07Obsession has a new address, and these guys are drawn to the house, even if it means looking
02:13like a drowned rat. Ratman! Am I right? Ratman, what are you doing?
02:18Are you trying to get in the front row? Now, Ratman doesn't say too much, does he?
02:23A man of few words? Maybe the B will get to the point.
02:26And why are you a B?
02:28The Beige Hornet.
02:29The Beige? Oh my God, he's even got the Beige Hornet drop. Where did you find a pair of drops
02:34that big?
02:35The women's department.
02:37Oh, okay.
02:37The less said about that sort of thing in this time slot, the better. There's one thing you
02:42must admit, they're originals. See, I'm Jill. I'm Jill too.
02:45I'm Jill too.
02:46I'm Jack of Jills. How come everything these days has to be in triplicate?
02:50Now, you're Marty, you're Jessica, and there we are. Hang on. Is this a three thing up thing?
02:59Oh no. It's all getting too hot. I've got a theory here. You guys just ripped that up
03:07at some fancy dress shop?
03:09No.
03:09No.
03:10It's a moat them. Look at it.
03:11Haven't. Hang on. Let's get it.
03:12Look.
03:13All with shoes.
03:14We've got needle marks.
03:16Pain went into this costume.
03:17Pain.
03:17Yeah.
03:18Now, as a card-carrying member of the Killeen machine, it's my sworn duty to seek out our
03:23hostess with the moasters.
03:25If you want to be with my star, I will not go far.
03:30Ever get the feeling you've been in a place before? Maybe a couple of times before?
03:36Oh, what's in here?
03:39Excellent. A captive audience.
03:52Who thinks I should go in the house?
03:59When can I go in the house?
04:01It's a closed environment, Quentin. We can't let someone from outside in.
04:06Who thinks I should go in the house?
04:12Anything concerning in those sorts of parts of the house, you really do have to be talking
04:17to Peter.
04:19You're not going in.
04:22I've met your type before.
04:24My type?
04:25Good bye in there.
04:26Oh, I'm innocent.
04:27I'm innocent.
04:28I have ways and means.
04:29Well, you have ways and means, too.
04:33The people want me in.
04:35I want me in.
04:36It's my destiny.
04:38It's time to swing my trusty snorkel into action.
04:41Okay.
04:42We're going to get Gretel.
04:43Howard, Howard, let me get Gretel.
04:45I said no.
04:46Why?
04:46I'm sure she's about to go to where?
04:48Back, son.
04:49Out.
04:50Out.
04:50Out.
04:50Out.
04:50Out.
04:50Out.
04:51Out.
04:51Out.
04:51Out.
04:51Out.
04:51Out.
04:51Out.
04:52Out.
04:52Out.
04:53Out.
04:53So not fair.
04:54I mean, escorted out of here.
04:56This is so rude.
04:59There she is, so near, and yet so far.
05:03I told you I was a card-carrying member, and I'll be buggered if I'm going to spend the
05:08whole show parked back here in economy.
05:12Man, this place is really going off.
05:16It's bigger than Brittany.
05:22Let's face it, if I'm ever going to swing some serious snorkel time with the star, I'm going to have to get in good with the guys who call the shots.
05:33Yeah, mate, voting's closed, it's official.
05:36We're only seconds away from tonight's eviction deadline. The switchboard is glowing, and the funnel for all that frantic dialling is Tim Klukas.
05:45What we do is we have teams of directors who direct storylines on two different streams, as they're called.
05:50So we're recording four angles all the time, two angles for each storyline, but that's still 96 hours of television, 96 hours of tape every day.
05:59There they are sitting on the lounge. There's Alex at the back. He has no idea. They're sitting there waiting patiently.
06:06It's great television. It's very exciting.
06:09You can see what they're seeing in the house. There's Gretel on the screen on the bottom left, and there's the housemates waiting for the announcement.
06:16And if I go back to the show...
06:20It's time to go...
06:23Alex.
06:30That was the moment.
06:34That's television.
06:35As the news sinks in, a hush descends, and silently, I make my move.
06:42So, are you enjoying it all?
06:44I'm loving it.
06:45Are you?
06:46Yes, I got everything with the lens.
06:48Have you got a camera up there? Are you filming me right now?
06:50We are Big Brother.
06:51Oh, look at that.
06:52Sneaky thing. Are you controlling that with your mind?
06:55No, I'm just...
06:56You are.
06:57Isn't that fabulous?
06:58Yeah.
06:59Don't look down my top.
07:04Perfect. Are you going to come and have a drink with everybody?
07:06We will.
07:07Good.
07:08Okay.
07:09Bye.
07:10Bye-bye.
07:11Bye-bye.
07:12Gorgeous.
07:13At last, I sense I'm beginning to wear Big Brother down, with my disarming style and engaging personality.
07:20I can assure you he's going to try and get in the house.
07:23Is he?
07:24He is.
07:25Yes.
07:26Well, we have ways of keeping you out.
07:28I have ways of getting in.
07:30Yeah.
07:32There is apprehension on their part.
07:35It's understandable.
07:37They haven't dealt with me before.
07:40Oh, but they will.
07:42They will.
07:43Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
07:48Now, from past experience, I know it's poor form to suddenly produce your snorkel at parties.
07:54So I've, um, hidden it and got in his dressing room.
07:57I wonder if I turned it off.
08:00There you go.
08:01Hello.
08:02Now, this is what I call a target-rich environment.
08:07It's where I get to graze knees with the in-crowd.
08:10This is hilarious. It's so spinny being outside of the house, isn't it?
08:16You reckon it's spinny being out there. You try getting your head around who's with who in here.
08:21I'd be in trouble with you, would I?
08:23If you'd mash me around? Yeah.
08:25Oh, you'd be copying it, Beacon. You'd be receiving a fistful of pain.
08:33Brody, the Roadster. How are you?
08:36I got it in one. Mate, you're not a superstar power coming up.
08:40I'm loving it. You're loving it?
08:41I said Rockstar and everyone just runs with it. I'm learning you say one thing and then they take it and it's all over.
08:47We all got in there and I've said it a million times, we were like the Christmas toys.
08:51Everyone got to play with us for a couple of weeks and that was about it.
08:54More people have voted for us each week than they have for their local electric.
08:59Alright, we're ready. Forget Gretel. Must concentrate on the mission.
09:03Where was I before? I love your work. This is so unprofessional. What is that?
09:09I don't know how this is. Is that a camera?
09:12Haven't seen one of those in a while. I don't know.
09:15Whoa! Whoa! Whoa!
09:17Why did you do it?
09:18Big Brother is a chance for you to be recognised as who you are.
09:21You know? Everyone in Australia knows who I am now.
09:24Whether they like me or whether they don't like me, they know who I am.
09:26We are but pawns in this game of chess. We are.
09:29But really, DC, is that a bad thing or did you know what you were getting into?
09:34We knew what we were getting into when we came into Big Brother.
09:36We are in it for a life changing experience.
09:38What they get from it may be different from what we get from it,
09:42but the thing is we're both going to benefit in the end.
09:44Coming up, my dream date.
09:50Are they from the petrol station over the road?
09:52Hi.
09:53I get to reveal all.
09:54Hello.
09:55How are you?
09:56Very well, thank you.
09:57Good. Well, I see you've dressed up for the audition.
09:59And all is revealed.
10:05Story of Big Brother, then Gretel Colleen definitely has to be the storyteller.
10:09And if anyone can sweet-talk BB into letting me in the house,
10:13it has to be the gorgeous Gretel.
10:16Gretel Colleen!
10:18I don't know what the show would be without her
10:21because the show is really designed around Gretel.
10:29She was cast by the network in consultation with us.
10:32If you had a choice, I think you'd have to agree.
10:34Guys, welcome!
10:37It's an experience I would never have missed.
10:41Great people, excitement, surprises.
10:45It pushes all of us to an extent that I've never been pushed before.
10:49Sit down, sit down, sit down.
10:53We were looking for someone who had a sense of humour,
10:57someone who could deal with a live television experience.
11:01She also had to have, the host had to have a caring side to her.
11:04I really care about them and then when someone does something
11:07and I think, ooh, that's not, that's not a good thing.
11:10They form a very strong bond with her
11:13because they had glimpses of her on Sunday night.
11:17And a lot of people in the house have spoken when they've come out of the house
11:21that they feel as though they've known her for a long time.
11:24What has surprised you most in the series?
11:27It surprised me how amazingly well a team of over 200 people work.
11:32How much you can laugh at the same time as producing quality stuff.
11:35The audience's reaction has astounded me and thrilled me
11:41that they love Big Brother so much.
11:43On every separate perspective, I'm surprised.
11:47I'm surprised at things that go on in the house,
11:49relationships that develop, things that I can't believe
11:52someone's doing that on television, they're actually doing it.
11:55I was so surprised to see fans of Big Brother's voice.
11:59It's a very sexy voice.
12:01And you see, men go for these bosoms, bottoms things,
12:04but women like good voices.
12:08Now, Peter, are you or are you not Big Brother?
12:13I am.
12:14You are Big Brother?
12:15I am Big Brother.
12:16I have finally found him.
12:18Yeah, you give good voice, you're going well.
12:20I'll keep that in mind.
12:22Well, you have to sort of talk like that.
12:24Talk like this?
12:25Yes, we'll do it deeper than that.
12:27I can't do it.
12:29I always talk like this.
12:31Well, you've got a good voice too.
12:33It's very distinctive, I know.
12:35That's exactly what you need, a voice of distinction.
12:37Now, we really must treat you like a star.
12:40Can we organise something, please?
12:42Somebody?
12:43Oh.
12:44Gee, did that just grow, did it?
12:48It did.
12:49Thank you very, very much.
12:53These, did you grow these?
12:55No.
12:56Well, I'm a boy, I wouldn't know how to grow anything.
12:58Are they from the petrol station over the road?
13:00No.
13:01They are.
13:02No, they're not.
13:03They are.
13:04Now, I heard someone say once, that you haven't had a date in ages.
13:08So, um...
13:09Oh, here we go.
13:10Did I say that?
13:12Is it true?
13:13When did I...?
13:15No, well, you see, it's a bit difficult defining what a date is, isn't it?
13:19Oh, okay.
13:20Isn't it?
13:21I was going to get your number and...
13:22And take me on a date.
13:23Yeah.
13:24Oh.
13:25It takes more than a bunch of roses.
13:26How many are there?
13:27Quite a few.
13:28There's quite a few there.
13:29I know, you've done pretty well.
13:31I'll have a think about it, because you know women just shouldn't be too easy with blokes
13:35by just saying yes straight away.
13:37Do you like French food?
13:38I don't know.
13:39You don't know?
13:40I've gone all shy now.
13:41You don't know?
13:42I've gone all shy now.
13:43Can you set me up with a date?
13:46You can do that yourself.
13:47You've got a better chance.
13:48Come on, you have a man on the inside.
13:50You can put a good word in for me, can't you?
13:52Hey, right.
13:53Interview's off.
13:54I want to be the new intruder.
13:57And you're not allowed.
13:58No.
13:59You know the best way to get into the house?
14:01You know, big brother.
14:02Yes.
14:03Tell him he's got a beautiful, sexy voice.
14:04Do you think I'd make a good housemate?
14:06Yeah.
14:07Yeah, although I think you like being in the limelight.
14:11You could have a bit of competition in there.
14:13Give it some competition, she reckons.
14:15Ha!
14:16I laugh in the face of competition.
14:18No, I need something else.
14:20Something better.
14:21Yeah.
14:22I'll wait.
14:23I'll wait here.
14:24Right.
14:25Now I'll see your competition.
14:28And I'll raise you.
14:30Okay, it's like a warehouse.
14:33It's like one drone warehouse.
14:35And they built the house or, you know, where the housemates live in around it.
14:40Then there's a yard and then you can see down there, there's like a little sort of rectangle
14:46square bit.
14:47That's where the cameras all hide in.
14:50So, I reckon that there'd be some sort of like corridor system or pathway system that
14:57we can get to.
14:58Coming up, it's head on with Big Brother security and a very frightening exposure.
15:08Oh, Quentin.
15:09The characteristics here at Big Brother are mind-blowing.
15:14There are 49 microphones and 34 cameras hidden throughout the house recording 12,000
15:20hours of live action with a staff of 250 here around the clock.
15:26The trick of seamlessly reducing days into minutes gets performed here with the flick of a switch.
15:32Don't be fooled by the calm exterior.
15:35This is intense.
15:36Next to the house, it's as close as it gets.
15:39It's like being on a guided tour of mission control the day Houston discovers a problem.
15:45And deep in that lot somewhere, masterfully pulling the strings with his vocal chords,
15:50is the voice himself.
15:52What do you think Big Brother's appeal is to the audience?
15:56The principal appeal is that it's unpredictable.
16:00Everything can change tomorrow.
16:02But do you, how much do you manipulate that?
16:06Not really at all.
16:08And the only control we have is by affecting the environment.
16:14Like today, I'm putting everyone into one bedroom.
16:17Big Brother would like all housemates to get to know each other a little bit more
16:20by all moving into bedroom two.
16:23Once the move is completed, bedroom one will be off limits to all housemates.
16:27Which is about forcing them to be together.
16:29Forcing them to break up the old groups between one bedroom and the other.
16:33Do you often have sleepless nights wondering what you're doing to the people?
16:37I often have sleepless nights, but it's usually not about what I'm doing to the people.
16:41It's usually about where it's headed or some problem at the moment.
16:45I mean, for example, Turkan.
16:47What would have happened if she'd have decided, right, I'm leaving?
16:50What would have happened to the show?
16:51Nothing bad. There's nothing bad that can happen at all on this show.
16:54That's the great thing about it.
16:55It's completely bulletproof.
16:57Do you guys have contingency plans if someone does walk out?
17:00We do.
17:02What are they?
17:03Panic.
17:04Turkan leaves.
17:07That's the show.
17:08Turkan stays.
17:09That's the show.
17:10Why do you want to leave?
17:12Because I don't want to play anymore.
17:14Now, how did you actually pick this series, Houseman?
17:18Yeah, it's harder in the sense that there's a lot more consciousness in the applicants of what they're entering.
17:26And it's easier for them to kind of fool us.
17:30They've all got a view as to what we want.
17:33Most of them are wrong.
17:35What do you want?
17:37It's not an individual quality.
17:40I mean, we're not casting a drama.
17:42We don't want actors.
17:43We wanted real people.
17:44We needed a mixture of similarities and very different personality styles.
17:49To keep on looking for that love and the feeling.
17:53I'll keep on looking for that love and the feeling.
17:57All about the camera sandwich.
17:59And then we're not getting a piece of the action.
18:01And it's only when you ultimately put them all together you say,
18:04oh, that works together or doesn't work together.
18:07You throw one out.
18:08When it's all said and done,
18:10what do you hope the audience gets out of it and the housemates get out of it?
18:16It's like a way of having an intimate relationship with someone without ever meeting them.
18:20From the point of view of the housemates,
18:22I think it's the sort of thing that they'll look back on in 15 years
18:26as being more influential on their life in terms of what they learned about other humans
18:30than the fame which came and went.
18:33Do you think any of them went into it for the 250 grand?
18:37I'm sure all of them go into it at some level for that,
18:40but it's not a good enough motive to get you through the experience.
18:45Do you have a favourite housemate?
18:47Of course not.
18:48Oh, come on, you've got to have one.
18:51Big brother loves all of them equally.
18:53How have you changed the first and the second series?
18:56We did more in terms of changing the way the cameras were used.
19:00We put all those rail cameras in which gave us the ability to move cameras around the bathroom,
19:05around the kitchen, around the bedrooms.
19:07And we've also got a lot more options now of doing close-ups.
19:10If you look at this year's series, there's a lot more shots like this which are like drama shots.
19:16So what happens if you can't cope?
19:21I don't like to think about that. I'm sure it'll be fine.
19:23You're a prisoner like the housemates?
19:25Oh, it's worse. I want the housemates job.
19:27I'm here every day. A lot of days it's 14, 16 hours,
19:32which is not too bad on a one-off basis or on a week's basis.
19:35When you're going for three months, it's fairly interesting.
19:37And I don't get to lie around by the pool or get people bringing me beers,
19:41and I'm under a fair amount of pressure.
19:43I've got a crew bugging me.
19:44You'll make sure that no naughty bits get in one.
19:48Could you teach me how to be the voice of Big Brother?
19:51Would you give me a go?
19:52Yeah, we'll have to find a message for you to deliver, though.
19:55Beautiful.
19:56So when you do it, it'll just be,
19:58this is Big Brother, Jessica to the Diary Room.
20:01Okay.
20:02Okay.
20:03That's there, and as soon as you push that button,
20:06the audio goes to the house.
20:08Okay. Do you want to do it?
20:09So, yep, you can do it.
20:11This is Big Brother, Jessica to the Diary Room.
20:15Who's he?
20:16Wow.
20:17That's Baby.
20:18Baby Brother.
20:19I like this guy. Who's he?
20:20Baby Brother.
20:21It's a man child.
20:22Yeah.
20:23That's a 16-year-old Big Brother.
20:24That's a working experience.
20:26Hello.
20:27Jessica, can you please close the door to bedroom one?
20:34Bedroom one is now off limits.
20:37That's it.
20:40What a spin out.
20:41It's great.
20:42They've already given me a name, Baby Big Brother.
20:45Now, if you let me in, can I leave a legacy item?
20:49You're out?
20:50No, no.
20:51Because you're not going in.
20:54Okay, guys.
20:55Here's the deal.
20:56The house is over there.
20:57I've made it through the first barrier.
20:59I don't know if I'm going to get in.
21:00The security guards over there.
21:02I'm going to give it a go.
21:03In a state of lockdown.
21:04Burning, beaten, betrayed.
21:05Taking trouble right again.
21:06Should have stayed.
21:07One time was too many.
21:08A burning gasoline rag.
21:09Nothing ever changes.
21:10G'day mate.
21:11How are you?
21:12Good.
21:13What you after?
21:14I was wondering if I could come in.
21:15No, you're not allowed to, mate.
21:16You have to go back.
21:17Please?
21:18You've got to go back that way.
21:19There's no way you can get in the house.
21:20So unfair.
21:21Coming up, Sides Big Brother never dreamed of.
21:22Oh, my God.
21:23I'm sorry.
21:24The house was too many.
21:25A burning gasoline rag.
21:26Nothing ever changes.
21:27G'day mate.
21:28How are you?
21:29Good.
21:30What you after?
21:31I was wondering if I could come in.
21:32Nah, you're not allowed to, mate.
21:34You have to go back.
21:35Please?
21:37You've got to go back that way.
21:38There's no way you can get in the house.
21:41So unfair.
21:45Coming up, Sides Big Brother never dreamed of.
21:51And, from the dark side...
21:54Most of these are for uncut in this section.
22:07Nice to meet you.
22:08Hello.
22:08How are you?
22:09Very well, thank you.
22:10Good, well, I see you've dressed up for the audition.
22:12Or dressed down.
22:13Or dressed down, indeed.
22:14Yes, yes.
22:15You've got the audition tape.
22:16Are we trying to hand that over?
22:17Probably not right now.
22:19Okay, I understand that.
22:20Rowling, what makes a good uncut special?
22:23A lot of things.
22:24The main thing, I was going to say thrust,
22:26but the main gist of the uncut, for me anyway, is humour.
22:31We always really try and keep things very funny.
22:33Girls like that.
22:36The way we present uncut is without any malice or any opinion.
22:43It's a bit saucy.
22:44Oh, saucy-morsy, I don't think that matters.
22:48The main thing is, it's fun.
22:49Has anyone had sex in their house?
22:56To my knowledge, no.
22:59But again, I throw it back as to how do you define sex?
23:06Are they doing a dancing?
23:09There's a bit of, um...
23:11Bit of what?
23:11A bit of playfulness between them.
23:14With most things sexual, isn't it much more exciting just to titillate and to think,
23:21oh, are they doing it?
23:22Aren't they doing it?
23:23Just what are they doing underneath that?
23:25So do you think I'd make a good housemate?
23:29I think you'd make a fantastic housemate.
23:31I think you'd make a wonderful housemate, especially if you're rocked up like that.
23:34Well...
23:34Let me make it onto the uncut show.
23:36I don't know what I'd do in the uncut show.
23:38Oh, I think you'd find something to do.
23:40Is there any saucy-ness we haven't seen?
23:46No.
23:48You've seen everything.
23:50Girls like that.
23:51Now, this is my audition tape.
23:53Would you be able to have a look at it for me?
23:56Absolutely, with the greatest of pleasure.
24:02Oh, Quentin.
24:06Hey, guys.
24:07Wait up.
24:10Tim, Peter.
24:11Peter, Tim.
24:12Come on, I want to get in the house.
24:14No.
24:15Why not?
24:16We've got to get the screening.
24:17Oh, come on.
24:18I'm the perfect housemate.
24:20We've got enough problems.
24:21Tim, please.
24:21Without you.
24:22This is not fair.
24:23What's not fair?
24:24No-one else is allowed.
24:25We're not here to make you happy, Quentin.
24:26We're trying to make a show.
24:27Look, the audience want answers.
24:28They want in the house as well.
24:30Come on.
24:31Wait for a screening.
24:31Please?
24:32Later, later, later, later.
24:33Hey, going upstairs is really not fair.
24:35It's the only way we can get rid of you.
24:37I'm going to get in the house.
24:39I'm sick and tired of this.
24:41Can't believe this crap.
24:43Did anyone with a mental illness try and audition?
24:45There were people that were vulnerable either because they had pre-existing depressive illnesses.
24:55That would mean that they're more likely to be emotionally unstable.
25:00What sort of mix are you looking for when you choose the housemates?
25:03If they had the same personalities, boredom would hit much sooner.
25:08But if we don't have enough similarities, there'll be no bonding there, which also buffers them from stress.
25:12So we needed a mixture.
25:14What intrigues you the most about Big Brother?
25:16There's an enormous amount of discussion that is occurring in workplaces and families
25:21about who they like and what happened.
25:26And I think that what that does is that people start to recognise the complexity of human behaviour.
25:32I've never felt the way I do with anyone.
25:37Are you surprised some relationships have formed in the house?
25:41Some we predicted.
25:42We certainly predicted the Mirabai and Damien relationship.
25:47Did it surprise you that Mirabai went off with Brodie?
25:50What we predicted is that probably all women in the house would be attracted to Brodie.
25:58Do you know the extent of your charisma?
26:04Now, how do you think I'd go in the house?
26:08I think you'll find that the most difficult is not knowing what's happening in the world.
26:12Look, I don't know you that well.
26:15I just needed your advice.
26:17I've been having this recurring dream.
26:20It's about Gretel.
26:24I just needed to talk to someone.
26:27Well, I think you'll have to book him with my secretary
26:29because I have to go.
26:31I've got another client waiting.
26:33You see, it all started a couple of weeks ago.
26:43Sorry.
26:46Sorry, where was I?
26:47Oh, hi, Raylene.
26:50Hi, how are you?
26:51Very well, thank you.
26:52Good.
26:53Are you guys coming to the uncut rehearsal tomorrow?
26:55Uncut?
26:56Mmm.
26:57Are you going to be clothed?
26:58Oh, yeah, I will.
26:59Yeah.
27:00I hope so.
27:01For rude words and lewd suggestions, here's our superstar evictie, Nathan.
27:09Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
27:11Hey, Gretel, I got a suggestion.
27:14What is laughing boy there and clear some space on the stage for me?
27:17I bought my own chair.
27:19Rehearsals are necessary, but there are no guarantees it'll be all right on the night.
27:24Remember, the housemates are living it up live on network prime time, and that's a very fine line to walk.
27:30I've seen other reports on other current affairs programs that the uncut show is bordering on pornography.
27:40We have a full-time censor on location for Big Brother.
27:45Every show is passed by the censor.
27:47They sit in, the person sits there, watches everything, clears everything.
27:52We don't take any risks with this because it's so important.
27:54This show is about watching a bunch of people that, by definition, you know well.
28:00These are people who come into your house every night whose happiness, whose sadness, whose emotions you get to see.
28:06And they become like family members.
28:07And people like to watch because they care about what's going on.
28:11I mean, I know that sounds like a publicity release, but that's what I actually believe.
28:15So would you say it's the real-life version of Neighbours?
28:18Exactly.
28:19That is the perfect summation of it, Quentin.
28:21It is real-life Neighbours.
28:23How do you reckon you'd judge a housemate?
28:25There's no way I would pass the psychological test.
28:28I mean, this is one of the things people ask us, why haven't we got older housemates in there?
28:32I mean, the fact is that very few people over 30 put their hand up for this program.
28:36It seems to be only young people who have that flexibility in life,
28:40who haven't had their own home and their thing, their life the way they want them.
28:45And so the young people can say, okay, I'm living with 11 other people and this voice tells me what to do.
28:51Okay, I can do that.
28:52Why can't I be a housemate?
28:54I don't think you'd pass the psychological test either.
28:56But listen, I have my audition tape here.
28:59The audition tape?
29:00The audition tape.
29:01Ah.
29:03We'll have a look at it.
29:04We'll get back to you.
29:05You'll get back to me?
29:06So there is a chance?
29:07Oh, there's always a chance for you.
29:09That's it.
29:09There's a chance.
29:10You're not recording this, are you, Quinn?
29:13Yeah.
29:14Ah.
29:16Coming up, water torture hell for the task department and simply heaven for me.
29:2270.
29:22There is only one way to get in.
29:27And I'll tell you, it's through one of the two access points.
29:29But one is very heavily guarded.
29:31I want you to get in there.
29:32I want you to cut sick on this chair.
29:34It's a machine and you should use it.
29:35Where's my access point?
29:37Oh, good.
29:37There's only one access point.
29:38And that's through the storeroom.
29:39Right.
29:40The storeroom goes through to the lounge room.
29:43The lounge room is the nerve centre of the house.
29:45It is?
29:45It is.
29:47But won't the cameras spot me?
29:49No.
29:50Well, yes.
29:51But that's OK.
29:51Stay low.
29:52If you go fast enough, you'll be like a blur.
29:54They'll never see you.
29:55No.
29:55So, I hear there's this guy that can get me in.
29:59There is this guy that can get you in, Quinn.
30:00Me and Alex know very well.
30:02So once you're in, you're in.
30:05Excellent.
30:06You're in for good.
30:10Don't try and eat it, mate.
30:12Don't run into the bag here.
30:14What the hell's going on here?
30:16Well, it's the task department's lunch break.
30:19Dave, that's all right.
30:20If you're going to go, go for the watermelon.
30:22So you're not the guy that does all the tasks, are you?
30:24This is the one.
30:25This is us.
30:26How are you, mate?
30:26Nathan.
30:28Clinton, how are you?
30:29Nice to meet you, Jonathan.
30:31Nathan told me about you.
30:33What did he say about us?
30:34He said that you were the guy that brings in all the staff and creates it all.
30:39Keep them busy, yep.
30:41Big Brother has dubbed you Chief Psychological Warfare Officer.
30:45Yeah, I've heard that.
30:46What does he mean by that?
30:47Well, I think just playing with the housemates' minds, that's it.
30:51You know, it's finding out what's going on in their heads and then seeing if we can crack it.
30:55How many staff have you got working for you?
30:57Five.
30:58Five.
30:58Five of us all up in the task department.
31:00And we've all run off their feet.
31:02All come from varied backgrounds.
31:03What, so carpentry and...?
31:05Not so carpentry, it's the producers and art department mostly.
31:09Do you personally test all the tasks?
31:10I personally test everything before it goes in there.
31:13Well, not me.
31:13I get someone else.
31:14So did you dress up in a superhero outfit?
31:16No, but David did.
31:17David?
31:18David, where's your superhero outfit?
31:20It's in the phone.
31:21How did you come up with the superhero tasks?
31:24Superhero was a classic idea.
31:27We thought, this mob, they were so animated, we thought, let's see how further they go and
31:31see, you know, if we just give them the basic designs for superhero outfits and we left it
31:36up to them.
31:36They came up with the names themselves and what superpowers they had.
31:40Superheroes, your work is done.
31:41Oh!
31:42Yes!
31:43Now, in the beginning, I noticed that you had your sandbag task.
31:49The idea behind that was that by having two people on duty 24 hours a day, you're going
31:54to get them away from the rest of the group and they're a new group and they'll sit and
31:58we'll get conversations.
31:59And we did.
32:00You know, we get conversations 24 hours a day.
32:02And they're always mixed, always something different.
32:04Now, I've heard from Nathan that you're the man that can get me into the house.
32:09I can't do that, mate.
32:11Not even, I mean...
32:12Well, you want to get into the house?
32:13Into the house.
32:14I can't.
32:15No.
32:16Everyone asks that question.
32:18I can get you the camera run.
32:19The camera run?
32:20Yeah.
32:21You can do that?
32:23If you behave yourself?
32:25Oh, Ian.
32:25I promise.
32:26Yeah.
32:26No talking?
32:28No.
32:28No phones?
32:29No.
32:29No cameras?
32:30Well, maybe a camera.
32:36Come on.
32:37Let's go.
32:39Go on.
32:41Promise?
32:41Yeah, I promise.
32:43Come on, come on, come on.
32:47Shh.
32:54Okay.
32:54Come on.
33:00Here's a good window for you.
33:06Just got to be careful.
33:08You can see the house, mate, through here.
33:10Cool.
33:11Yeah, we just got to be careful this time of day.
33:13It's because you get too much light in the window, there's a good chance they can see us.
33:16That's what we don't want.
33:18Smaller than it is on TV.
33:21Here's Karen.
33:21I thought he was still going to see us.
33:25Okay.
33:26Where's the bathroom?
33:30Shocker.
33:32Oh, wow.
33:35The rats.
33:38But they can't see us, that's what's funny.
33:40Just like the housemates, the rats can't see us either.
33:43What is going to happen to the rats after the show?
33:45I think they'll probably end up living in Dream World and becoming a tour attraction.
33:50Cool.
33:50They might even get their own show, I don't know.
33:53Like, what was the purpose of the rats?
33:57Well, we wanted to put a pet, we wanted to put something new in.
33:59I suppose they put dogs and cats in other houses around the world.
34:03I don't think anyone's put rats in here before, so we'll put three rats in.
34:06Lab rats.
34:08Well, they're all a bunch of lab rats.
34:12Okay.
34:13Which way?
34:14Just pull up along here.
34:15That's it, that's it.
34:16Okay.
34:17Just nice and quiet.
34:18Okay.
34:19Okay.
34:19You ready?
34:19Yeah.
34:20In instances like this, this is when Bordom is big brother's best friend.
34:32Gwen.
34:33Yeah.
34:36He's one of our cameramen.
34:38He's hard at work.
34:39Okay.
34:40Don't put too much light on him, you expose him to the housemates.
34:42What's it like being here months on end, just with people in the dark?
34:49I don't know.
34:49They must go a bit batty.
34:50Yeah, I think they do.
34:51I think they do.
34:52Most cameramen are a bit batty.
34:54But these guys especially.
34:55But most of this lot did last series, so I'm surprised to see they came back.
34:59Yeah.
35:00It's a mystery to me too.
35:02What sort of person would hover silently in the dark for hours on end, filming young things
35:07and living colour right in front of your face?
35:09All right, Gwen.
35:10Here's the bathroom.
35:11You wanted to see the bathroom.
35:12Come on.
35:15Oh, wow.
35:16It looks like we've missed out in the showers of the day.
35:19I think they've all had one.
35:21So basically, there is absolutely nowhere to hide in this house.
35:25I mean, we've got this new camera track that we've put up around the bathrooms and around
35:31most of the bedrooms.
35:35See?
35:37This allows us to get all the shots we need now.
35:41Most of these are for uncut in this section.
35:46Promise me.
35:47Shh.
35:47Not real.
35:48Not real.
35:49Not real.
36:00Oh, wow.
36:08This is the bedroom you kicked them out of yesterday.
36:10All right.
36:11Okay.
36:12Oh, wow.
36:12I can hear them.
36:13Yeah, they're just out there on the outside.
36:15We can hear them.
36:16They can hear us.
36:17So who slept where?
36:19Jessica.
36:20Marty.
36:22Mirabai.
36:23Brody.
36:24And I think this was Shannon's bed here.
36:28Let's see what they've left.
36:33Rice box.
36:35This is amazing.
36:37I'm in the big brother house.
36:38This is why it used to be Jesse and Marty's room.
36:42This is where all the action happened.
36:45They broke the beds.
36:47They broke the beds.
36:49Jess and Marty.
36:51What were they doing?
36:52I have no idea.
36:57What is it?
36:58It's got blonde hair.
37:00It could have been Shannon's.
37:02This is just like my camera.
37:16I think mine's better.
37:25Do you like my camera?
37:28Can I tell the bars?
37:43Bye-bye, big brother.
37:50Come on.
37:50Let's go get it.
37:51Let's go.
37:52Coming up, a breakthrough between the lines.
38:01Got to get in.
38:02Time's running out.
38:03Must lose quickly.
38:05This is sort of like those sand tracks they have outside racetracks.
38:13It's one of the ways we have to keep you out.
38:15Are you going to get the hints soon?
38:16When will these guys ever learn?
38:18I don't take hints.
38:20I take over.
38:21Foiled by mud.
38:23And apparently, I'm not the only one trying to crash.
38:26A crew from Channel 9's current affair is trying to steal my thunder.
38:29How are you, mate?
38:30G'day.
38:30We were just curious as to why a Channel 9 crew would be doing a cross-promotion for
38:36a Channel 10 show.
38:37What's everyone talking about?
38:39Big brother?
38:40Yeah.
38:40Aren't we meant to be covering current affairs?
38:42Um, don't you think, like, Kerry's going to be a bit miffed that you're, um, publicising
38:47another show?
38:48I think you know all about tabloid current affairs, don't you?
38:51Come back.
38:52Answer the question.
38:54What do they let everyone in here these days?
38:56They rang up and asked.
38:57They were polite.
39:01How's that?
39:02How's that?
39:03Rubbish.
39:03Polite tabloid TV crew.
39:05No such thing.
39:06I used to work for Willissey, buddy.
39:09Well, the simple fact is you can't force people into doing things.
39:14If you allow people to cooperate, they're much more likely to help you.
39:16I'm cooperating with you.
39:18No, if you come in and ask very nicely.
39:22Peter?
39:23Yes?
39:24Please.
39:25Can I please go in the house?
39:27Ah, but now you're pushing it, you see.
39:29You didn't ask for something reasonable.
39:31If you'd ask for something reasonable, nicely, politely.
39:34Let me just go chase this turn of the crew again.
39:36Very good.
39:37And, um...
39:37Think about your manners.
39:38I will.
39:39How many attempted break-ins have you had?
39:44This series?
39:45Only two.
39:46You know, the dogs, every now and then, they'll take a five or ten minute break.
39:51If you want to know more about security, why don't you ask Quentin?
39:53He's been hanging around here for a week, trying to get in every place he shouldn't, and he too has failed, haven't you?
39:58Well, so far.
40:00And who said I'm finished trying?
40:02I shall not be toyed with.
40:04Not this early in the morning, anyway.
40:06While the housemates are securely locked in their bedroom, Jonathan's ducking in and out, picking up last night's shattered emotions.
40:13And if that's the door he's using, we're in.
40:17John?
40:18John, eh?
40:20You're okay, mate.
40:20You're good.
40:21You can't do it.
40:23Okay, stand by three.
40:25Stand by four.
40:26What is that?
40:28Has anyone seen him before?
40:29There's another housemate.
40:31No idea what it is.
40:32That's a very small man.
40:34What's he doing?
40:37That's someone called security.
40:39They said Big Brother would get me.
40:41But here I am.
40:42In the Big Brother house.
40:43Now, it's time to meet my new housemates.
40:50House security.

40:55I know why.
40:57Okay, here's the place where Jesse and Marty do all their washing, and Marty makes his weird phone calls to all his relatives.
41:07The basketball court.
41:08Lots of beer bottles left by the housemates.
41:13No, he's going to camera for four now, right?
41:18Does Big Brother know about this?
41:19Security's on its way.
41:20We're getting rid of him in any second now.
41:22Don't worry.
41:25Maybe even turn the wipers on.
41:27He'll go away.
41:27He'll be fine.
41:28Don't worry.
41:28This is Big Brother.
41:43Quentin, you have 20 seconds to leave the house, or you'll be removed.

42:22I know people.

43:03Come on, back from school.
