Greece’s Thessaloniki metro, set to open after two decades of construction, unearthed 300,000 archaeological artefacts during excavations, including Roman roads, mosaics, and ancient burial sites.

00:00We present to the citizens, after many years, the main line of the metro in Thessaloniki.

00:18With 13 stations, with 9.6 km length, with modern trains, with increased safety systems.

00:27So that about 250.000 of our compatriots, every day, can be transported quickly, safely and ecologically to Thessaloniki.

00:38It was a project that was delayed a lot. It was a project that had many difficulties and obstacles.

00:56Among other things, there are many archaeological findings that exceed 300.000.
