00:00I'm too hood, I'm too ghetto. Y'all told me that all year. But when other people do it,
00:05y'all don't say nothing. So this was for the girls that look like me.
00:08That's what LSU women's basketball star and now national champion Angel Reese said to reporters
00:13when asked about the outrage surrounding her. So why are some people upset at Reese?
00:17Brooke can explain in less than 60 seconds. Late in the game when it was clear LSU was
00:21going to beat Iowa for the NCAA women's national title, Reese made a you can't see me gesture
00:26towards Iowa player Kaitlin Clark and pointed at her ring finger. The gesture sparked outrage
00:31from some viewers who said that Reese was classless and called her an idiot.
00:34The particular hand gesture, however, had been seen in the women's tournament before,
00:39when Kaitlin Clark herself got positive attention for doing it to other teams.
00:43Reese's supporters were quick to point out the hypocrisy between the support of Clark,
00:47a white player, and Reese, a black player, even though they made the same exact hand gesture.
00:51Several NBA players have since taken to social media to defend Reese and point out the double
00:55standard, including LeBron James and Shaquille O'Neal.
