00:09Disney World's special district will now be under the control of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.

00:13So why did the Republican governor take control,

00:15and what does it mean for the future of Disney World?

00:19We told you last April that DeSantis wanted to punish Disney after it

00:23finally decided to speak out against the state's Don't Say Gay bill.

00:26Now, he's signed a new bill that will allow him to appoint a five-person board

00:30that will oversee Disney's 25,000-acre Reedy Creek Improvement District

00:35and the government services it provides,

00:37including road management as well as fire and police services.

00:40And with his first appointment, he's selected three conservative attorneys.

00:44The founder of the right-wing education group Moms for Liberty,

00:47and the CEO of a ministry that has adopted Christian nationalism.

00:50The president of Walt Disney World Resort, which has held on to its special tax status,

00:54says that they are ready to work within this new framework.
