Adult Swim cuts ties with “Rick and Morty” co-creator

Adult Swim has severed its working relationship with the co-creator and star of “Rick and Morty.”

00:04abuse charges. Justin Roiland was charged with one felony count of domestic battery with corporal

00:09injury and one felony count of false imprisonment by menace, violence, fraud, or deceit. These

00:14charges were based on an alleged 2020 incident with an unidentified woman Roiland was dating.

00:18That same year, he pled not guilty and was released on a $50,000 bond. Roiland co-created,

00:24executive produced, and voiced the titular Rick and Morty in the hit adult animation comedy. In

00:282018, Adult Swim ordered 70 episodes of the series, of which they aren't even halfway through.

00:33The network says they will continue to air Rick and Morty, but will recast Roiland's voice roles.

00:38Roiland is expected to return to court on April 27.
