At least one protester has officially received a death sentence in Iran.

00:14and Biola Davis, among others, saw her account censored over claims that 15,000 protesters in

00:20Iran had been sentenced to death. The claims stem from this post and also articles like these.

00:25As stated in these sources, human rights organizations estimate that roughly 15,000

00:30protesters are being detained, and many face charges that could carry the death penalty.

00:35As of November 15th, however, only one protester in Iran has been given such a sentence,

00:40and the UN warns that more protesters could get the same sentence soon. Regardless,

00:44the threat of death is real for protesters in Iran. According to human rights organizations,

00:49at least 300 people have been killed in protests so far, and Iranian officials executed 314

00:55people in 2021 alone.
