00:00Russia's special operation in Ukraine is in its third year.

00:05The total number of dead and wounded has topped one million.

00:09The U.S. and its NATO allies have provided $175 billion in military, tactical and financial

00:17support since the conflict began.

00:20The Western Military Alliance has pledged an additional $43 billion next year.

00:27At the 75th NATO Summit in Washington this past July, U.S. President Joe Biden announced

00:33what he called an historic donation to Ukraine.

00:36The United States, Germany and Italy will provide Ukraine with the equipment for five

00:44additional strategic air defense systems.

00:46And in the coming months, the United States and our partners intend to provide Ukraine

00:51with dozens of additional tactical air defense systems.

00:55Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is pushing for more, as Donald Trump prepares

01:00to return to the White House.

01:02Analysts say the president-elect has a very different view of the U.S. role in foreign

01:07affairs that could endanger European security.

01:11Trump and his Republican allies have complained the U.S. is spending too much on supporting

01:17Ukraine.

01:18Trump has argued NATO member countries don't pay their fair share and has gone so far as

01:23to threaten withholding defense support if they don't pony up.

01:29Trump has also repeatedly claimed that if he'd been in power, the special operation

01:33would never have happened and that he would resolve the conflict within one day.

01:38It's a complicated puzzle, very complicated puzzle, but we'll get it solved and people

01:45get on with their lives.

01:46Too many people dead, too many beautiful cities.

01:50Critics fear any deal brokered by Trump.

01:54Zelensky recently said he believed the Russia-Ukraine conflict would end faster under the Trump

02:00administration.

02:01And on Friday, Trump met with NATO head Mark Rutte in Florida.

02:07In his last two months in office, Biden is drawing a contrast between himself and Trump.

02:13This week, the president gave Ukraine permission to use intercontinental ballistic missiles

02:18and anti-personnel landmines against Russia.

02:23The Biden administration also announced its intention to cancel half the debt Kiev owes

02:29Washington, some 4.6 billion U.S. dollars.
