00:31Visitors also crowded the Durian Nook to taste Davao's Puyat Durian, attracting both consumers
00:37and Chinese traders interested in business deals.
00:40The event also featured the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between a leading fruit distributor
00:46in China and Philippine companies for the continued importation of pineapples and bananas
00:51to China.
00:53According to Philippine Ambassador to China Jaime Flor Cruz, exhibitors earned $1.1 billion
00:59at the CIIE in 2023, a significant increase from the $37.5 million earned during the inaugural
01:07event in 2018.
01:09He said this growth highlights the Expo's vital role in strengthening trade relations
01:14between the two nations.
01:16The importance of this is not only in export sales, not only in dollars and cents, but
01:25the intangible benefits of this is to strengthen our friendship between the two nations.
