00:00A PAS leader has asserted that the Islamic Party is better qualified to lead Perikatan
00:06Nasional, challenging the notion that Bursatu President Muhyiddin Yassin should remain as
00:11the coalition's prime ministerial candidate.
00:14PAS spiritual advisor Hashim Jassin cited the party's larger parliamentary representation
00:19and stronger grassroots network nationwide as key reasons for its leadership aspirations.
00:26He added that PAS' history of no-party-hopping and lack of hunger for power also bolstered
00:31its claim to leadership.
00:33Hashim's remarks followed recent comments by Bursatu Vice President Ahmad Faizal Azumu,
00:39who insisted that Muhyiddin was the sole candidate for the prime minister's post in the opposition.
00:44Bursatu Supreme Council member Wan Saiful Wan Jan, meanwhile, told FMT it was unlikely
00:50that a PAS leader would spearhead PN's charge at the next polls, despite the Islamist party's
00:55dominance in the opposition coalition.
