This sweet dog has to wear a muzzle just because of his breed — so his mom does the best thing for him and his friends. We talked to Doug's mom about life in the UK since the XL bully ban, and how Doug is changing minds every day.

00:00It breaks my heart that these dogs are getting targeted.

00:06The Exile Bully Ban came into place at the start of January 2024.

00:11Before the Bully Ban came into place, we actually had about one and a half years of freedom

00:17with Doug.

00:19We literally made the most of every weekend with him.

00:23Doug has always been such a friendly, loving dog.

00:27What are you doing?

00:31I never would have looked at Doug and thought, oh, one day he potentially might need a muzzle.

00:37There was a build-up to the ban, so we had four months to prepare.

00:42I went straight out to the pet shop and I bought a muzzle.

00:45He's still on your muzzle.

00:49I made it really positive for him.

00:51You're a friend to him, aren't you?

00:57Oh, baby, you can't take it off, you're not allowed.

01:00He doesn't love the muzzle.

01:02His personality is completely different.

01:05It's really sad.

01:06He hates this muzzle.

01:08He walks so slow with it now, I'm literally dragging him.

01:12It's like he almost doesn't want to lift his head up when he's walking and he's just so

01:15fed up of being in it.

01:18We are living with the exile bully ban every day, and the stigma that this breed gets.

01:24How can they ban a whole breed?

01:27I was angry, I was sad.

01:30It's just processing that information.

01:33Your dog is a banned breed.

01:35You have to follow laws to keep it alive.

01:37Oh, baby, you can't take it off, you're not allowed.

01:41If you don't, your dog will get put to sleep.

01:43We try and keep things as positive as we can for Doug and try not to let too much affect

01:49his life.

01:50Really just getting him out there, showing everyone who he is and what this breed is

01:56about.

01:57I have always been an exile bully advocate because they haven't always been a loved breed.

02:04We are off on our exile bully pack up.

02:08I thought, OK, well, why not boost it up?

02:11Why not get all these dogs out there and show everyone that this breed is not what

02:17the media portray them to be?

02:22I have decided to take it upon myself to do exile bully pack walks.

02:37of the breed at the same time, is something that I do want to keep doing.

02:48He proves himself every day to everyone.

02:51He's just such a good boy and I tell him that every single day.
