00:00The US and several European embassies in Kyiv have temporarily closed amid warnings of significant

00:07air attack threats.

00:10EU leaders arrived for the second and final day of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro.

00:22A truce between Israel and Hezbollah in Lebanon is within grasp, according to a US envoy negotiating

00:28between both sides of the war.

00:32A representative from the Biden administration said the militant group responded positively

00:37to a proposal that both its fighters and Israeli ground forces withdraw from a UN buffer zone

00:43in southern Lebanon.

00:47In such a scenario, the buffer zone would be policed by thousands of additional UN peacekeepers

00:52and Lebanese troops.

00:55However, despite the US envoy's positivity, the technical details of any potential truce

01:00are still unsolved.

01:06Israel is likely to call for more enforcement along the buffer zone between the two countries,

01:11including the ability to conduct military operations against threats from Hezbollah.

01:18Lebanon is likely to oppose those operations along the buffer zone, where UN peacekeepers

01:24were reportedly attacked after tensions escalated.

01:33The US embassy in Kyiv has closed temporarily following warnings of a potential air attack

01:38threat.

01:40In the statement published online, US citizens in Kyiv were also told to be prepared to take

01:45shelter.

01:47Several European embassies have also followed the US lead by closing their locations in

01:51Kyiv as well.

01:53The warning comes in a moment of increased tension, as Ukraine used US-supplied long-range

01:58missiles to strike Russian territory for the first time on Tuesday.

02:03Putin's press secretary said that Washington was adding fuel to the fire by authorizing

02:08the weapons.

02:10President Biden has significantly stepped up USA to Ukraine since Donald Trump won the

02:14presidential election.

02:17In the White House's most recent move, Biden has agreed to give Ukraine anti-personnel

02:21mines to use on their own territory.

02:24Much of the international community has long banned the use of these mines, due to the

02:28significant injury they have caused to humans, including civilians.

02:34Ukraine has pledged to only use mines that remain active for a limited period of time

02:38and not to use them in areas populated with civilians.

02:46One thousand days into Ukraine war, the rage of Ukrainian people towards Russians is growing.

02:53Many believe that they are not doing enough to stop the war.

02:57Russian opposition activists Yulia Navalnaya, Ilya Yashin and Vladimir Kabamoza therefore

03:02organized a march against the war in Berlin.

03:05The participants came with mixed feelings.

03:26Many Ukrainians say it is wrong to blame Putin alone.

03:30They see a collective responsibility for the war on the part of the Russian population.

03:47Meanwhile a group of Ukrainians has gathered in front of the Russian embassy.

03:52They criticized the lack of accountability within the Russian community.

04:08Russian activist Vladimir Kabamoza, who spent two and a half years in a Russian prison for

04:13opposing the war in Ukraine, says he is proud of the resistance movement in Russia.

04:19I am proud of the fact that so many of our fellow Russian citizens have publicly spoken

04:24out against Putin's war of aggression in Ukraine since February 2022, many at the cost of their

04:29personal freedom.

04:30We have a record number of political prisoners today, more political prisoners in Russia

04:34today than in the home of the Soviet Union in the mid-1980s.

04:37And the fastest growing category of Russian political prisoners are those Russian citizens

04:41who have publicly spoken out against Putin's war of aggression in Ukraine.

04:44And this fact makes me proud.

04:48The anti-war march was the first joint step of the Russian community towards an active

04:59protest against the war in Ukraine.

05:01But many Ukrainians agree that it should not stay that way.

05:06More needs to happen.

05:13EU leaders arrived for the second and final day of the G20 summit in Rio de Janeiro, during

05:22which the ongoing wars in Ukraine and the Middle East, as well as uncertainty over US

05:28politics were high on the agenda.

05:30Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva opened Tuesday's session by calling for more

05:37action to slow global warming, saying developed nations should consider moving their 2050

05:42emission goals forward to 2040 or 2045.

05:46Meanwhile, French President Emmanuel Macron met with Chinese President Xi Jinping for

05:53a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the summit.

05:56He reaffirmed France's commitment to strengthening relations with China and insisted that the

06:03two countries share the same views on promoting peace in Ukraine.

06:33It comes after the French President hosted the Chinese leader on his state visit to Paris

06:43earlier this year.

06:49French farmers protested for a third day on Wednesday after setting up a blockade on the

06:54highway near the French-Spanish border.

06:57Their aim is to block heavy goods vehicle traffic from Spain to France, protesting against

07:02an EU-Mercosur trade deal with South American nations.

07:07The French Minister for Agriculture condemned the blockade, saying it risked undermining

07:12public empathy for the profession.

07:14The farmers say producers from countries that are part of the Mercosur agreement are not

07:35subject to regulations as strict as those in Europe.

07:39They also say it creates unfair competition with third countries.

07:44Thousands of UK farmers have descended on parliament to protest the Labour government's

07:52decision to increase inheritance tax.

07:55The hike was announced in last month's budget and would see the end to a tax break dating

08:01from the 1990s that exempts agricultural property from the levy.

08:05It means that from April 2026, farms worth more than a million pounds will face a 20%

08:11tax when the owner dies and they are passed on to the next generation.

08:16Farmers say such an increase in tax will deal a hammer blow to family farms which are already

08:21struggling from the impact of climate change, global instability and the upheaval caused

08:26by Brexit.

08:28If the government ends farming, which is seemingly what it wants to do, where do we get our food

08:36from?

08:37But the UK's centre-left government says the vast majority of farms will not be affected

08:43and various loopholes mean a farming couple can pass on an estate worth up to three million

08:48pounds tax-free.

08:50A travelling exhibition exploring the history of fake news and forgery has opened in Budapest.

08:58The interactive collection, put together by the House of European History, reveals that

09:03the concept of fake news has existed for centuries, from the forging of sacred relics to the invention

09:10of conspiracy theories.

09:13We start the exhibition with a practice of antiquity which was called the condemnation

09:21of memory.

09:22It was a practice by which they tried to erase people from history and the exhibition ends

09:29in this location in Budapest with an additional case study added by our host, the Open Society

09:37Archives, which looked at the case of Imre Nog and how his name was purged from history

09:44until 1989.

09:46The interactive nature of the exhibition allows visitors to become fact-checkers themselves

09:51with screens which allow them to decide which news to censor or publish.

09:56The collection also explores cases in history where forgery was used for good.

10:01During the Holocaust, for example, thousands of lives were saved by fake identity cards

10:06and passports.

10:07The exhibition is open until the 16th of February.

11:29in the Gulf of Mexico rather than on the launch site.

11:34SpaceX and NASA hope that Starship will one day be used to get astronauts back on the

11:39moon and eventually on Mars.
