00:08week 11 after an overtime loss in Munich to the Carolina Panthers the Sunday prior, a

00:15quarterback change that perhaps was anticipated, but maybe not the guy we expected to fill

00:22in for Daniel Jones from the horse's mouth yesterday, if you will.

00:29We are making a quarterback switch from Daniel Jones to Tommy DeVito after evaluating and

00:36watching a lot of tape.

00:38That's the reason we are going with Tommy drew lock will be the backup.

00:42This was a necessary move for us, and I'm looking forward to working with Tommy and

00:46he'll be ready to go against Tampa Bay and quote again, Joe.

00:51I don't think it's overly surprising.

00:53We have had this debate on the show in the previous few weeks.

00:59How much longer with the Giants invest in Danny dimes, knowing that his four year contract

01:04extension was front loaded in these first two years, basically the Giants could get

01:09out of it at the end of 2024.

01:12What I did not expect that if in when New York made the move, it would be Tommy DeVito

01:18and not the guy.

01:19They paid $5 million this off season in drew lock.

01:23Yeah.

01:25I mean, listen, it makes sense.

01:28We all knew it was coming, Ben, and it makes sense at this point because of the way the

01:33contract for Danny dimes is written.

01:36He's got a pretty airtight injury clause in that contract where if something were to happen

01:42to him, then it's going to cost the Giants a whole lot more money to keep him and they

01:47can't cut them like they can if they keep them off the field and they keep them healthy.

01:52So if he gets hurt, the Giants are screwed.

01:55If if you don't play him well, then you can just cut him, take the $22 million dead money

01:59next year and move on.

02:02So it makes sense from that standpoint.

02:04But man, if I'm DeVito, I mean, do you remember him taking the snaps in those games, Ben?

02:11And that offensive line, which was miserable, he was sacked all the time.

02:18It felt like it was like a total clown show.

02:21It feels like it's going to be a total clown show again, only this time with a little bit

02:26better defense for the Giants.
