Pharmacy closures: Are fewer pharmacies impacting your community?

With over 3,300 pharmacies cutting hours and eight closing every week, we ask Birmingham residents if they’ve noticed it becoming harder to find a pharmacy in their area. How would fewer pharmacies or limited hours affect them and their community?

00:00It would be a problem. I live quite close to a pharmacy, as far as I'm aware it's staying open.

00:07Having said that, if it were to close, yeah, it would certainly cause issues, and that's in an area with a lot of students as well,

00:14so they kind of need somewhere relatively close.

00:19If mine closed down, I'd have to go somewhere else, obviously, but fortunately for me, I live in a rather large town, not round here,

00:32so I don't think I would have any problem finding one, but people in rural locations, smaller towns, it's bound to have an impact on them.

00:42I think there is something that needs to be addressed as regards local pharmacies, and how much support they get,

00:49if they're expected to take on more of a major role in helping members of the public, both in giving advice and preventative health care.
