The CFA has told us here at the ABC today that this fire has now been contained.
00:07
Now as to the cause of the fire, investigations are ongoing.
00:10
Officially it's being treated as suspicious, but that essentially means that CFA fire investigators
00:16
haven't yet been able to rule in or out any possible cause of the fire.
00:21
A fire started just south of Cadnock and it'll be investigated.
00:26
Fire investigators are on the ground today, they were on the ground yesterday working
00:29
with police and at this stage we're treating the fire as suspicious.
00:33
Now as to what happens next, this fire is not over.
00:36
Despite the fact that as I said it is contained, there is a control line around it, CFA tells
00:40
us that it will continue to burn in stumps underground for weeks and months ahead and
00:46
if we do get more bad fire weather, which we no doubt will, there is the potential that
00:51
it could flare up and could threaten surrounding communities.
00:54
So certainly everyone remains alert.
