00:00Good afternoon and welcome to your latest weather update from the Met Office. So some
00:04colder temperatures on the way for much of the UK but turning generally more unsettled
00:08as we go in towards the new working week. This is all thanks to this area of low pressure
00:12moving in from the northwest as we go through Monday and Tuesday. There is still a little
00:17bit of uncertainty on the exact position of it and it's that boundary of warm and cold
00:20air with those weather fronts that could bring some disruptive sleet and snow through Monday
00:24and Tuesday. As we go through Tuesday though that pushes out towards the east leaving northerly
00:28winds across much of the UK so turning colder through the middle part of the week for all
00:32of us. But back to the rest of this afternoon. A bit of a mixed picture for most of us. Some
00:37sunny spells, some scattered showers. The showers most prevalent across western areas
00:41and again these could turn to sleet and snow across the very far north of Scotland. There
00:44will be some sunshine between those showers particularly across parts of Northern Ireland,
00:48central southern parts of Scotland too but it will be feeling really chilly in those
00:51northerly winds despite any sunshine across parts of Scotland. Temperatures struggling
00:55to reach much above four or five degrees. Further south we are just holding on to those
01:00slightly milder conditions. Temperatures here closer to average for the time of year maybe
01:03eleven or twelve degrees. As we then go through the rest of Sunday any showery rain that we
01:09see continues to push its way southwards across much of England and Wales. So generally turning
01:13much drier for central parts of Scotland, northern parts of England. Plenty of clear
01:18skies to start the day on Monday here. Still plenty of showers particularly turning to
01:22snow across northern parts of Scotland. We could see up to ten centimetres of snow building
01:26up through Monday morning. But generally further south just staying that little bit cloudier.
01:30Plenty of showery rain to come and staying a little bit milder under that cloud and rain
01:34too although temperatures will still be dropping into the single figures. Where we do see the
01:38clearer skies though further north, quite a harsh frost developing during Monday morning.
01:43Temperatures dropping below zero particularly in rural spots and this could lead to some
01:46icy stretches on any untreated roads so do take care during Monday morning's rush hour.
01:51It'll be a bright but chilly start for the northern half of the UK on Monday morning.
01:55A little bit cloudier for much of England and Wales though as that initial area of rain
01:58pushes offshore and then that area of low pressure I previously mentioned brings an
02:02area of rain across parts of Northern Ireland. Could be particularly heavy in places tending
02:06to sleet and snow over the hills through Monday afternoon. Further east generally staying
02:10a little bit drier. There could be some sunshine perhaps turning a little hazy through the
02:13afternoon but still feeling really quite chilly in that northerly breeze. Temperatures only
02:18around three or four degrees in places but again still holding on to that milder air
02:22just across the southwest. Temperatures here around average around ten or eleven degrees.
02:27As we then go through Monday evening that area of low pressure bringing those outbreaks
02:31of rain across Northern Ireland push their way eastwards across into northern parts of
02:35England. Again still a little uncertainty in the exact position of this but we could
02:39see up to twenty centimetres of snow falling over the Pennines and most likely falling
02:44as rain to lower levels but there is a chance of some disruptive sleet and snow during
02:48Tuesday morning's rush hour so do keep up to date with the latest warnings on that.
02:52Across parts of Scotland a little bit drier still some snow showers across the very far
02:56north and further south some quite blustery showers pushing up on a brisk southwesterly
03:00breeze but it will still be quite a mild night here under all that cloud and rain but another
03:05chilly night to come and a chilly start to the day on Tuesday. As I mentioned still quite
03:10a bit of uncertainty in the exact position of that area of low pressure so do make sure
03:13you subscribe to our YouTube channel and keep up to date with any warnings via our website
03:17and social media channels. Bye for now.
