Historic Leonids to peak on the night of Nov. 16-17

Catch the peak of the historic Leonid meteor shower on the night of Nov. 16-17. The Leonids are expected to produce 15-20 meteor per hour during peak shower.

00:12The meteors appear to originate from the constellation of Leo the Lion.

00:16The Leonids have a rich history of producing some of the most spectacular meteor storms

00:21ever witnessed.

00:22The most historic storms occurred in 1833, 1866, and 1966 when thousands of shooting

00:30stars soared across the night sky per minute.

00:34This year, however, peak shower will bring 15 to 20 meteors per hour, and you'll have

00:39to keep your eyes away from the Moon, which will wash out fainter meteors.

00:43The last outburst for the Leonids happened in 2001, and another outburst is not possible

00:49until 2034.
