00:00Two civil servants have been arrested for allegedly accepting bribes of about RM130,000
00:08from contractors in return for upgrading and minor maintenance work on school toilets in

00:15The two men in their 50s were detained when they came to the Sabah headquarters of the
00:19Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission, MACC, in Kota Kinabalu on Thursday night.
00:26According to the sources, one suspect was remanded until November 21, while the other
00:31was released on MACC bail after giving a statement.
00:35Initial investigations indicated the suspects had demanded bribes amounting to 30% of each
00:41project's value.
00:43According to another source, the MACC also confiscated approximately RM90,000 in cash
00:49and seized two luxury vehicles.
00:52Sabah MACC Director Datuk S. Karunanithi confirmed the arrest, stating that the case
00:57was being investigated under Section 17 Subsection A of the MACC Act 2009.
01:05He did not rule out the possibility of follow-up arrests in the ongoing investigation and urged
01:10any contractor who has given bribes to civil servants to come forward.
