00:13Leandro Malate was just a kid.
00:16He was already fond of trying out different sports events.
00:19From shot put and discussed throw,
00:21until he became good at javelin throw.
00:23Here, Leandro's career continued to grow
00:27and won the championship in the last UAAP Athletics event.
00:31In the edition this year,
00:32the plan of the thrower champ is to defend his title
00:36in the world-class facility of New Clark Athletic Stadium in Tarlac.
00:40My goal in UAAP is to defend my title.
00:44I'm the defending champion in the javelin throw men's category.
00:49Last season, my throw in the javelin was 56.64 meters.
00:55With five throws for all,
00:57through a wider opportunity for throwers in the country,
01:01the Philippine thrower will not be far from the Olympics.
01:06So this is our one way to reach the goal,
01:09especially Olympics.
01:10That's the end goal for the Philippine throwing community.
01:14So by doing this and future events,
01:17we hope that one day we might have a Filipino thrower
01:22in the Olympics stage.
