00:00We introduced Bullseye Maths about two and a half years ago as a numeracy scheme where we could help primary school aged children to engage with maths and to encourage numeracy by using the simple maths around darts as well.
00:14So it's something that we've been running with professional players where we get them to do guest appearances and can do events like this when we've got major tournaments.
00:22So when we come to Wolverhampton each year it's always good to have some of the local schools involved.
00:26Today it's Woden Primary School, we've brought some children down to learn a bit about maths but also have some fun by playing darts but doing some of the simple maths around it.
00:35We've got with us today the World Grand Prix champion Mike Dedecker and the European Championship runner-up Jermaine Watamine.
00:40They're professional players who are involved in the tournament here and all the players that we've used around these events have been really supportive of helping to grow the game
00:48because this could help to encourage the next generation of players but most importantly it just helps sometimes to engage the children in a subject that they might find difficult at school.
00:57But actually when they're taken out of the classroom they get to come to a venue like this, see some of the professional players and then actually do some of the maths with it.
01:05When they're doing it in an active environment where they're playing darts as well sometimes it just sparks off that enthusiasm within them to learn about maths.
