Well Launceston Create started just as an idea. So a while ago I was involved in the Great
00:06
Regional City Challenge, Brainstorm Me Day, and it was the 4th of August earlier during the year,
00:14
and we were asked to come up with ideas that would benefit the Launceston community. And
00:19
obviously being an artist I couldn't help but think about all the artists that need support
00:24
in our city and visibility. Because obviously not being from Tasmania I have a different
00:30
experience with art being performed on our streets and I noticed that Launceston didn't
00:36
have much of that. So I thought how wonderful would it be to actually have a portal where all
00:42
our street artists are showcased and they can get exposure and potentially work out what it was
00:48
called the Street Artist Calendar. But soon I realised that I needed to create an actual
00:54
opportunity and a place for these artists to come and perform because the available spots
01:00
weren't enough to showcase all the talent that we have in our city. The spirit of collaboration
01:05
that we have in our group, you know, because we know our experts so we're sort of all helping
01:09
each other into making this happen. And having now this community of artists wanting to do so
01:15
much more for the future, it's wonderful. So this is just basically the first stepping stone
01:21
and hopefully it will just pave the road for many more opportunities for us and for the city
01:25
of Launceston. Looking at some of the people who will actually be in the line-up, I hadn't heard
01:30
their names before I've been around living in Launceston, you know, for 30-40 years now.
01:35
And that's the thing is a lot of these people fly under the radar and by getting someone with
01:40
Eleanor's energy to actually bring them all together and make a free event with giveaways
01:46
and all sorts of fabulous things. I mean her energy and her vision is just second to none.
01:56
Awesome, thanks guys. Thanks mate, no worries.
