Flight attendant wounded, Spirit Airlines jet hit by armed-gang gunfire

00:20The passenger plane was diverted to Santiago in Dominican Republic.

00:24The airline said the plane had been damaged and taken out of commission upon landing in

00:29Santiago at 12.33pm without any problem.

00:33They said a flight attendant was injured in the incident but none of the passengers were

00:37wounded.

00:38They said they had suspended their flights to Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien pending

00:42further evaluation.

00:45Armed gangs in Haiti have shot at planes in recent weeks as the security situation escalates.

00:50Dominican President Luis Abenador said the Spirit Airlines plane was damaged with seven

00:55gunshots and the government will treat Haitian gangs as terrorist gangs.

01:26JetBlue Airways said a post-flight inspection showed that its flight B6935 from New York

01:31to Port-au-Prince had been struck by a bullet.

01:35They said they will extend the stoppage of its flights through Dec. 2.

01:39The U.S. embassy said all flights in and out of Port-au-Prince are now stopped due to the

01:43gang-led efforts to block travel, including violence and disruptions to roads and airports.

01:49The recent attacks happened during the change of the guard in Haiti where Alex Didier Filsaime

01:54took office on Monday as the interim prime minister, pledging to improve security in

01:59the country.
