Everybody is impacted by it, say Philly residents as they mourn victims of plane crash

Residents of the Philadelphia neighbourhood of Castor Gardens expressed shock and horror over the high-impact Med Jets Flight 056 crash that killed at least seven people outside the Roosevelt Mall on Jan 31. 00:00So I want to stress this was a high impact crash and the plane is highly fragmented.

00:25There is a substantial impact on the entire community.

00:29The debris field extends four or five blocks.

00:33And I do want to stress that this is an active investigation scene.

00:39The debris is scattered.

00:41It is very dangerous.

00:43And so I encourage everyone to stay out of the accident site.

00:51I do want to mention we are still looking for the cockpit voice recorder.

00:57We have located the two engines, but for the cockpit voice recorder, we are still looking

01:03for it.

01:04It could be intact, but likely it is damaged.

01:10It may be fragmented.

01:14About 6 p.m. I was at home and I'm about maybe a few blocks this way and I heard a loud boom.

01:25It was like the kind of boom that shakes you and right after that I heard a lot of sirens.

01:32I heard a lot of helicopters and everything.

01:38It was horrific.

01:39I was very shaken last night because the first image that I saw on the official news,

01:48it was a picture of my son's school and that's the main picture that they showed and in the

01:54left top corner, you saw the explosion.

01:57So this hit home for me.

02:00This is crazy, man.

02:01You don't really hear about things like this, especially, you know, it's impacted me because

02:06my daughter goes to school down the street.

02:08The parking lot that we're standing in, I crossed through to get to my daughter's school

02:12and to know that a plane crashed literally blocks away from my daughter's school.

02:16This is very devastating and very, very scary, too, and, you know, my heart goes out to the

02:22families and the victims that were, you know, affected by this.

02:25This is just tragic.

02:28I come here almost every day, 9 to 5.

02:31I'm a field rep salesman and fortunately yesterday, I didn't go into the field, but coming

02:38back today, this place is unrecognizable.

02:43Everything that was here, the community, everything, I can tell everybody's impacted by it and

02:50I just hope that everybody's okay and we can get through this as soon as possible.

02:55I'm thinking the people is in the car waiting for the light because you can see the car

03:00over there.

03:01It's stopped waiting for the light.

03:05The car is, the people there, I'm like, why they think in that moment, you know, like

03:11maybe they don't see the airplane or I don't know.

03:14Just in a minute like that, something just happened like that and then unfortunately,

03:20you know, people lose their lives and stuff like that instantly and certain things, it

03:27doesn't, you know, doesn't, you know, we don't control these, we don't control these, but

03:33it's very sad.

03:35It's very sad for the families and whoever affected by this tragedy.
