Austria may lift veto preventing Romania and Bulgaria joining Schengen

Austria's Interior Minister has hinted that Austria could lift its veto on full Schengen area membership for Romania and Bulgaria after improvements in border protection.

00:11For the last two years, Austria has blocked the two nations' full admission to the control-free

00:15travel zone, arguing that too many refugees were entering Austria via the West Balkans.

00:23Karner now says the situation has improved.

00:43Earlier this year, Bulgaria and Romania received partial Schengen membership after checks at

00:49their air and sea borders were removed.

00:53The three nations will meet in Hungary on the 22nd of November.
