00:00On November the 9th, 1974, Washington was hit by a fire which would have a huge effect.

00:08Usworth Secondary School was ablaze, and by the time the flames were under control, this was the aftermath.

00:15Most of the building had been wrecked, and all that was left was a tangle of girders.

00:211,400 pupils were rehoused in 35 mobile rooms.
