00:00The National Maritime Council has also given the importance of the two new laws

00:05passed by President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. for the Maritime Jurisdiction of the Philippines.

00:18Princess, following the passing of the two new laws related to the Maritime Jurisdiction of the Philippines in the West Philippine Sea,

00:31the government announced that it will strengthen our right to the so-called territory.

00:39According to the National Maritime Council, the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act

00:48are the product of the whole-of-government initiative of the government.

00:52According to the National Maritime Council Spokesperson Alexander Lopez,

00:55the importance of the two new laws in the Maritime Jurisdiction of the Philippines

01:01clearly define what is our right to talk about the territory we are talking about.

01:08This clarity is vital in establishing the scope of the Philippine Maritime Jurisdiction,

01:15ensuring that our rights and responsibilities as an archipelagic state are clearly defined.

01:31According to Senator Francis Tolentino,

01:33the new laws that were passed show that the nation's opposition to the international law

01:41and to our legal system is the opposition to our sovereignty.

01:45Tolentino also stated that the Philippine Maritime Zones Act and the Philippine Archipelagic Sea Lanes Act

01:51will serve as the implementation of the 2016 Arbitral Ruling.

01:56This is very saddening because this shows the opposition of a country

02:03that is based on the legal system but based on the international law and a lot of help.

02:16In his speech, Congresswoman Rachel Arenas stated that

02:19President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has a great ambition to implement the law

02:25that will give the Philippines its rights in the West Philippine Sea.

02:29President Marcos fought for this,

02:34and even though the President is traveling abroad,

02:37he is still fighting for the Philippines.

02:42Able to pass these two very, very significant bills,

02:46and this is actually for the country, for the Filipino people.

02:52And again, I have to salute the President again

02:56because in all of his travels abroad, he fought for us.

03:08Through the Republic Act No. 12064 and Republic Act No. 12065,

03:14he will also pass this to legislate the name West Philippine Sea.
