00:00It's certainly felt like Groundhog Day as of late with cloudy and gloomy weather persisting.
00:05Now this is due to a large blocking area of high pressure centred over Europe,
00:09but it's extending its influence over the UK as well. This has altered the path of the jet stream
00:15which is currently to the north of us and is also blocking those low pressure weather systems from
00:19tracking across the country. Now under high pressure, air sinks and this is trapping in
00:24moisture in the form of mist, fog and low cloud and southerly winds are dragging in mild air from
00:30across the continent. So for the rest of Thursday, Friday and into Saturday, things don't really
00:36change that much. So there'll be a lot of cloudy weather around with some spots of drizzle and the
00:40best of the sunny spells are expected to be across northern Scotland. Remaining mild as well with
00:46both daytime and nighttime temperatures above average for the time of year. Moving into Sunday
00:52though, now this is when things start to change just a little bit. So outbreaks of rain will
00:56track eastwards turning increasingly light and patchy as it does so and sunny spells will follow behind.
