00:00This is Me is an outlet for those with dementia. It helps them enjoy the music and form meaningful
00:14relationships.
00:15Well initially it was started by Geordie Movena, who was the mayor last year, a few years ago
00:24now and she had asked me if we would facilitate it. We're a music school in town, we had the
00:29space and we jumped at the chance.
00:34I started coming here in 2019 when my husband had dementia, but this was perhaps the only
00:41place that understood and was able to talk to him and I felt that he was considered still
00:49the person he had always been.
00:52The support that we've received from Cold Water Minerals and Brighter Futures has been
00:57absolutely incredible and it's so appreciated.
01:01For these families it's a lifeline, it's a real lovely thing to come to each week and
01:09without the support and funding that we've received it just wouldn't take place, so thanks
01:14to Me.
01:16Playing our part in supporting sustainable local community development is incredibly
01:20important to Cold Water Minerals. Through our partnership with the Brighter Futures
01:24programme we've been able to make a positive contribution to the This Is Me initiative
01:28along with numerous other community groups and projects which promote diversity, inclusivity
01:34and social togetherness in Lorne and surrounding areas.
