It's might not be the race that stops the nation.. But it did slow down the tiny northern territory town of berry springs. The croc races have become a top end cup day tradition and this year didn't disappoint.

There may not be a thoroughbred in sight, but these young salties have been preparing for their big moment on the territory's own track.

A really long tail gives them that extra bit of motivation, bit of flick, those strong back legs and as long as they look nice, fit and healthy.

We've seen the crocodile races because we haven't been here before, we just arrived in Darwin yesterday from New South Wales.

Australia is huge, everything has to be a big deal and I love it, I simply love this place and I love crocodiles.

This year the croc races are stepping things up a notch with a new addition, camels.

These camels aren't taking part in the races, if all goes to plan, but they are rounding out what's been a fantastic day here in Darwin.
