Green Heroes: Shower heat exchanger

The simplest shower water heat exchanger that can be installed in 5 minutes and  saves up to 40% energy when showering!

00:00There's a lot of fossil fuels used just for showering in our times.

00:13With our idea we can save like 40% of the energy used for showering.

00:31The heat exchanger is made out of two plates from very thin stainless steel and so there

00:36is a good heat transportation through the material.

00:39The fresh cold water takes the energy from the hot waste water and when we bring back

00:43the preheated cold water to the mixing tap you just need less hot water to get the same

00:49temperature for showering and so you save a lot of energy.

00:55Additionally we've got some plateau where you stand on and that is made from thermally

01:01treated bamboo.

01:02We choose this bamboo because it grows very fast like 30cm each day and it can withstand

01:08all humidity in the shower and it lasts at least 25 years.

01:20We did some calculations that it is possible to shut down at least one power plant in Germany

01:26by just using our device and if all households over Germany use the Warmduscher then we can

01:33shut down at least one of the biggest nuclear power plants in Germany.

01:39That's the goal.
