00:00Guys welcome back to tasty tailgating presented by Pepsi today. We're making corndogs. Let's get cooking
00:09All right guys corndogs super easy to make really all you're gonna need is your hot dogs today
00:13I have some some mini hot dogs here
00:15I love mini corndogs and then I also went with a chicken jalapeno sausage with cheese in it because I figured
00:20Why not mix it up? Okay, and then for the batter
00:23All we're gonna have is we have equal parts cornmeal and flour
00:28It's about 3 fourths of a cup and
00:30Then equal parts to that buttermilk. So if you want to scale this up and make a lot more
00:35It's it's just say then you do two cups of buttermilk two cups of cornmeal two cups of flour. It's all equal
00:40So actually I'll give that a mix and to that
00:42We're adding a baking soda half a teaspoon and some sugar about a teaspoon teaspoon and a half
00:47You want a little bit of sweetness with a good corndog and if you want you can even season this more you can put in
00:52Paprika, you can put in cayenne pepper. You could add some spice to it garlic powder or onion powder. All that would be great
00:57I'm keeping it just your standard corndog here. All right, once the dry ingredients are all mixed. We'll go in with that buttermilk
01:07Two eggs are going in
01:11All right, we'll give this a mix
01:15The batter should be fairly thick just keep on whisking till all the clumps are out
01:21Yeah, that's what you want you want a nice thicker breading on this it's gonna yield the best result
01:28Can't forget a little bit of salt
01:32And then if we're doing traditional hot dogs or these chicken
01:35Chicken dogs. We're just gonna skewer those the mini corndogs. We don't need to skewer
01:41The best way to to batter these is actually get a cup get a glass cup get a plastic cup
01:46Pour all your batter into that
01:52All right, then to get the best results you're gonna want to just dust everything in some flour
01:57So we're gonna put this on the plate
01:59Then here just roll
02:02Tap all the excess off. You don't need much. This is gonna just help that batter stick to our corndogs
02:09Perfect like that and then the minis
02:12Give those all a toss too
02:14All right
02:14And the reason we put the batter in a cup is because easiest way instead of trying to coat it all in the bowl
02:19It's gonna make a mess. Just take it
02:21dunk straight down and
02:24There you go. Perfectly battered corndog. I have some frying oil at 375. If you don't have a fryer, no worries
02:30Just do this in a shallow pan on your stovetop. It's about 350-375
02:36And then you're gonna slowly let it start to fry
02:39Hold it by the skewer and let that bottom start to get coated
02:43Once the color looks just like this, like a corndog, golden brown, they're ready to come off
02:49All right guys, and there you go. We have homemade corndogs and I believe
02:53Eddie's in the house. He's gonna come give these a try. You a corndog guy, Eddie?
02:57Who's not besides our boss who just found out they exist. Crazy. You just eat it straight
03:03Oh, it's a hot dog
03:07You're supposed to put mustard on it
03:10I had no idea those are hot dogs. But here we have some homemade dogs. You like anything on it? Ketchup, mustard, you going plain?
03:16I'll just raw dog them. Sometimes the honey mustard's good. Not a big yellow mustard guy
03:20I'll tell you the mini corndog is revolutionary, too
03:22All right time to dig in but guys remember every crave-worthy bite tastes better with Pepsi
03:26I'm going with a Pepsi zero sugar here and you got one there yourself. If you don't want it, don't try it
03:30I'm going with a Pepsi zero sugar here and you got one there yourself. If you don't want it, don't try it
03:34I'm going with a Pepsi zero sugar here and you got one there yourself. If you don't want it, don't try it
03:39I love it. I love the new Pepsi zero sugar
03:43They stepped it up
03:45All right. Cheers, Eddie
03:47Cheers
03:49I don't know. You just cheers. I'm not a big cheers food guy. You said cheers. Well, whatever. You just eat the dog
04:00That's good
04:03It's like a flawless food. It's a corndog. Who's gonna get mad at a corndog? I don't think you can
04:08I like mixing up. I did a this is like a jalapeno cheddar chicken sausage
04:11So you have some cheese in there that burst a little bit of jalapeno. Nice spice. Not bad at all
