00:00Kamala Harris is only the second woman ever to be on a major party's presidential ticket,
00:04the first being Hillary Clinton for both Democrats and Republicans. But many women
00:09paved the way before them. Take suffragists Victoria Woodall in 1872 and Belva Lockwood
00:14in the 1880s. Both ran for president before women could even vote. Fast forward to the 20th century
00:20and we see Margaret Chase Smith breaking ground as the first woman to go for a major party's
00:24nomination. The next woman who ran for a major party nomination was Shirley Chisholm, the first
00:29black candidate to run for president. And Lenora Folani took it a step further, landing on the
00:33ballot in all 50 states and D.C., a true coast-to-coast trailblazer. In 2016, Hillary Clinton
00:39went toe-to-toe with Donald Trump, coming so close to becoming America's first female president. By
00:442020, the stage was packed with Tulsi Gabbard, Kirsten Gillibrand, Amy Klobuchar, Elizabeth
00:50Warren, and Marianne Williamson, all throwing their hats in the ring for the Democratic nomination.
00:55Which brings us to Kamala Harris. Can she make history books and defeat Donald Trump?
00:59We'll find out on November 5th.
