00:06is set to be launched to space next Tuesday, November 5th,
00:10in an early test for using timber in lunar and Mars exploration.
00:15The LignoSat was developed by a team from Kyoto University
00:18and homebuilder Sumitomo Forestry.
00:21It will be launched on a SpaceX rocket bound for the International Space Station.
00:26Reuters notes that the goal is to demonstrate the cosmic potential
00:29of the renewable material as humans explore living in space.
00:33One of the astronauts working on the project said,
00:36up until now, no country has planned to use wood in a space development.
00:41The team reportedly has a 50-year plan of planting trees
00:44and building timber houses on the Moon and Mars.
