US election: Why Donald Trump is so popular in Nigeria

In Nigeria, many look to the United States with anticipation during election season. As an African nation with a strong socially conservative population, many Nigerians hope Donald Trump returns to the White House.

01:30In a deeply religious country like Nigeria, it's also Trump's conservative agenda,

01:36including how they assume he stands on gay rights that appeals to people.

01:42He believes in God, I don't know.

01:45That's my opinion, he believes in God.

01:46And anybody who believes in God is someone for me.

01:50We need him, he's the best thing that happened to the world now.

01:55Because when he entered there, you know what to do, you know the right thing to do,

02:00to bring the world together, to bring peace to the world and make everywhere to be okay.

02:06The popular columnist, Inedi Ogaziechi, cannot understand her fellow Nigerians' love for Trump.

02:14She would love to see a President Kamala Harris as an inspiration for young women in her country.

02:21If she becomes the first American female president, that, beyond every other economic, political

02:31or spiritual powers that America wields, would send profound political and economic message

02:41to the rest of the world.
