00:00Madam Deputy Speaker, David Lownes is a hero of ours in Peterborough. For 51 years he has

00:07chronicled life in our city as the snapper for the local paper. Just this last weekend

00:12in rain and shine I met David taking photos at the Diwali festival and at the rededication

00:18of the war memorial. This year his regular contract with the Peterborough Telegraph comes

00:22to an end. Will she join me in congratulating David on his contribution to our city and

00:27journalism, and will she help ensure we have time in this House to debate the value of

00:33good local journalists?

00:36Can I join him in congratulating David Lownes on a very, very long career in local photo

00:43journalism? What an important role he and others like him play in capturing the moments,

00:50in telling the stories of our constituents and our communities and the things that we

00:55care most about. I'm sure that an application for a debate on the importance of local journalism

01:02would be one that would be very well attended were he to apply for one.
