00:00Tell the fans what kind of football they can expect from yourself and what are you going to try and implement with the current squad?
00:07Hopefully to really try and attack a lot and get a lot of people in the box, a lot of balls in the box and try to be on the front foot and be aggressive as well.
00:17I don't think that one can exist without the other.
00:20So it's got quite a young group here as well, isn't it? You've met the players today, is that right?
00:24Yeah.
00:24So what's been the first impressions of the group from afar as well?
00:29Obviously you must have been aware of them as well.
00:31Yeah, I mean, young but enthusiastic and I feel like still with plenty of fight in them and plenty of belief in them.
00:41So we saw some real quality as well.
00:45I haven't yet seen every player, so I look forward to seeing the full squad and then try and work out the best combination of players to put together and get to work.
00:54So, yeah, just wanted to make sure your priorities then, so we're sitting here very early on day one, isn't it?
01:00But yeah, what's the, yeah, what's your priorities now?
01:03I think the priority is really to try and get everybody fit and up to speed on the pitch so that we have the best squad available to choose from.
01:11And then after that, probably work out, like I say, the best combination of players, the formation suits them best, the style that suits them best and see if we can find something that helps us to win plenty of games.
01:25So are you coming in more with an idea of that or is that something you're going to have a look at the squad and then...
01:29Again, I don't think one can go without the other.
01:33I've got experience, so I've worked with a lot of different groups of players and different formations, back three, back four, two strikers, one striker, more players in the middle of the pitch, less players in the middle of the pitch.
01:44So I've experienced plenty of different groups and different formations and different systems.
01:52So that combined with the individual character of the players that we have here, try to find the winning combination, really.
02:00And you've worked with a couple of people that Posh fans believe you're very familiar with.
02:04You spent time as assistant to Mark Cooper and Russell Martin.
02:08Yeah, I just wanted to make me talk a bit about their influence on you.
02:12You were sort of generally, you sort of footballing influence as well.
02:15I mean, I was fortunate to work with Gus.
02:17It was incredible.
02:18I worked with Mark Cooper and I learnt loads then.
02:22Working with Russell, I learnt loads of new things with Russell as well.
02:26And of course, you know, we share all the stories and that.
02:29So Mark and Russell told me things about their experiences really positively about Peterborough.
02:38And then it's strange because working at Brighton with Gus,
02:41he told me about his experiences at Swindon Town with Dennis Wise.
02:44And then sometime later, I ended up at Swindon as assistant.
02:49And so I felt like I knew a lot about Swindon when I went there.
02:52And coming here, I know lots of things from talking to Mark and talking to Russell
02:59and also players that I've worked with that have played at the club.
03:01So, yeah, I feel like it's somewhere that I probably know quite a lot about,
03:06even without ever stepping foot inside as the manager.
03:10I'm sure people are going to hear what Samartin can have ideas about the type of football.
03:14But obviously, you know, you've got your own way, haven't you?
03:15And obviously, you know, obviously.
03:16Yeah, and also I think that it's important to remember that Russell had a promotion with Southampton
03:26and that team was a fabulous football team.
03:30You know, I faced them at Swansea and they were incredibly good.
03:34I think anybody going into the Premier League from the Championship is a full stretch to stay there.
03:41So I don't think it's any disgrace to have a tough time in the Premier League.
03:46And look, recently he's been at Rangers and I think probably when he lost his job, he'd lost one league game.
03:54Tough game, yeah.
03:55So let's put it into perspective, you know, and into context.
03:58Russell's a very talented manager, very talented head coach.
04:02And his teams have produced some fantastic football.
04:05And I'm sure he's going to go and do that again.
04:07But yeah, I had my own idea and my own style.
04:11I've learned things from Russell.
04:12I've learned things from other coaches and I try to use those as well as my own ideas as well.
04:19Oh, good stuff.
04:20Nick, grab a word to Ryan Harley.
04:22He's going to be coming in and working with you.
04:24And is he going to be the only one that's coming in as well?
04:27At the moment, it's just myself and Ryan.
04:30We've met the brilliant staff that are already at the club.
04:34And so we look forward to working with them.
04:36But yeah, Ryan's someone that has been with me for a while.
04:39And he's excellent.
04:42So he's got a lot to add, a lot of value to add to the club.
